Well I replaced my commuter car, the Hyundai Kona Ultimate, this week after a new tranny was installed under warranty. She had 92K and Hyundai honored their warranty with no blink. I decided to trade her in and start over since I drive about 110 miles a day to work and back.

I tried to find a Maverick in the 2L Ecoboost and AWD....no luck. When you find a used one they literally want 10K over sticker.....no kidding! A dealer actually showed me a listing where they had access to the original MSRP sticker....unbelievable!

If you did find a new one....expect at least $5K over MSRP.....per a local dealer in Denver.

Anyway, I decided to stick with Hyundai since the Kona was such a good vehicle....so I bought a Santa Cruz Night edition in the gray with black interior. I actually really like it! It's built on the Tucson platform and is very roomy in the cabin. Lots of under seat storage in the back and the bed has a built in cooler/storage pod with side storage in the bed also. Great tie down system and great Led lighting in the bed also.

It has a sunroof and a 2.5L turbo engine that won't contend with our Rangers but definitely pushes her down the road with ease.....

After negotiating I got them down about $1K below the sticker.....that's pretty good for today's car buying experience with the shortage of vehicles. Anyway, I think I will put the same wrap I have on my Ranger on the hood of this new ride....I will definitely be installing some aftermarket sound in this thing too....

Introducing my new commuter.....

Well you have to do what you have to do. Getting below sticker price is a good deal. Those are still very expensive aren't they? Good luck with your new rig.

They honor the warranty on those transmissions because they are soooo bad and everyone knows it.
What else could they do?

I’m sure you’ll enjoy it Mark.

Anyone else see the irony in those side steps like I do? ?

Somewhat depends on what tranny was in it, their dct are crap, their Theta II engines were horrible, Hyundai does keep improving though and understands their targeted buyer very well.

I really like those except of course the grille. Wife has a 2019 Hyundai Veloster with the 1.6 Turbo six speed manual and she loves it. It gets down the road and she drives it like she's Mario Andretti. I thought if I had to get a new rig other than a pickup it would be a Tucson or Santa Fe

My sister has a 2017 Santa Fe that's served her well, except she keeps having to replace the windshield; not sure if it has anything to do with the design, or if it's all just bad luck/installations, but she's having to replace it for the third time already.

Whenever I see the Santa Cruz, it reminds me of the old Subaru Bajas, aesthetically at least; having never driven either, I can't make any other comparisons. @txquailguy, how are those bed storage options? Are you finding them practical, or are they more for show & marketing?

It's sad what the greedy dealers are doing to the Ford brand . What supposed to be an affordable budget truck ends up out of the reach of its intended market. An engineer and a maintenance tech here at work were both trying to find a Maverick (we cast and mill the 2.0 here) and all they can find are used ones marked up 10k also :(

Won't argue your general reasoning since it is ridiculous that dealers are marking up the vehicles for no good reason. Also to my understanding the 10 year 100K warranty is only good for the first owner for Hyundai KIA. If you are able to use the warranty then power to you. If not it's what it is.

Yes, it's ridiculous the dealer ADM, and we on this forum all hate it.
Yet they still can't keep Rangers, Mavericks and Broncos on the lot.
