Pressure washed winter away on most of our vehicles. Can't believe the ranger had no frame rust. Now to get waxing. Spring has sprung here but seems more like summer.

Well, the adhesive on the rubber piping for my Bushwacker fender flares failed in a few places…again (I think Air Design has a better mounting system), so I removed them the other day.

I was diggin’ the look and thought about leaving them off, except if you’ve had these or similar fender flares, you know all about the scuff lines they leave on your truck. The last time it failed, I put on new adhesive and re-installed the flares because of the scuff lines.

This time, I decided to test whether or not “shit’ll buff out” and gave it a try. It wasn’t 100% successful but maybe I just need some advice on buffing technique or scratch remover products.

I took a before video and another after a couple of passes with Meguiar’s Scratch Remover.

Any advice, even good advice  is appreciated.

My fallback is to put new adhesive where needed and re-install the fender flares.

No Frame ?
No rust at all on the frame or trailer hitch. Didn't treat it with anything. My last Silverado frame was total rust and peeling wax after the first winter. Ford got something right with their coating.

Have you tried goof off, goo gone or some other type of citrus cleaner. If it's mot gouged in should just be adhesive residue bonded in.

Thanks Ed - that’s not adhesive. I wish it was. The adhesive I mentioned sticks the rubber piping to the fender flare. Those are marks from where the rubber piping makes contact with the truck. It’s fine if you never want to remove the flares but if I can get rid of those scuffs, I might just leave them off.

Then just check with a local body shop to see if there is enough clear coat on there to buff them out. I bet they wouldn't charge much.

Don't even know where to begin. I was a busy beaver today since my interior panels finished curing.

I never use my glove box and people always like cramming power junctions in tight spots so I said hell with it and utilized part of mine. Relay triggered, but all it runs right now is my radio, top dash usb panel, and a light I installed in the glove box.

I also got my shifter bezel painted to get rid of that chrome. Debating vinyl wrapping the shifter chrome bits or being lazy and buying an overlay.

After removing the Bushwackers and doing my best to buff out the scuffing from the fender flares, I’m going to take @Fordup ’s good advice and have some pros assess it. It has a few small door dings and there is a very good detailing shop a few blocks from me. They’re big on ceramic and paint correction and have a mobile PDR guy that comes to their place.

The truck looks good but it now makes the Westin side steps stick out like the rusted out sore thumbs they are :( so, I took them off too.?

Canadian winters are hard on things but I think Canadian winter road maintenance practices are even harder.

I’m not so sure I want to be dealing with blasting and painting these every couple of years so they are hanging from the rafters in the garage along with the Bushwackers.

As a result, True North is looking a little slimmer and trimmer…

Truck does look good, even if it does resemble a Baby-Bro just a little.
You do you!
