Ok someone at my office got a new taco. It actually doesn't look too bad for a newer taco. I wonder if it has there new 4 banger in it or a V6? I like the sliders but not sure what brand they are. I still like my Ranger way better. They also probably paid a butt load of money for the taco.

That is a Gen 2 Tacoma. Looks like a 2014 or 2015. The snorkel is pretty silly. Otherwise it is a decent truck. It should have the 4.0L v6 which is a way better motor than the v6 Toyota is currently offering. What did he pay for it?

Yeah. Like PNRanger said: it's a 2nd gen (2005-2015) Taco. Those had the 2.7 4-cyl or the 4.0 V6.

Edit: Looks like Jim beat me to it!

Went to Costa Rica a couple weeks back. I was surprised at how many 4wd trucks down there had a snorkel. At least half of them. Never seen so many in my life. It must really rain a lot during the rainy season.
my understanding of snorkels is that they're for dust, not water.

They're actually for both but most use them for water.

https://trucksauthority.com/what-does-a-snorkel-do-on-a-truck/

A snorkel helps your truck wade through water by using clean air from above the water to make your truck breathe properly. It performs the function of air filtration and takes in the purest air whether you are on dusty ground or moving through water. It makes a water seal to prevent the entry of water into the truck to maintain the engine’s efficiency. Snorkels positively impact fuel economy and increase your vehicle’s overall performance.

It must be a 2022 because the new 2023 Tacomas aren't out yet IIRC. All the '23's are a 4cyl turbo.
Tacomas don't currently use turbo engines. Tacoma comes standard with a 2.7 I4 NA engine making 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. An available 3.5-liter V6 has 278 hp and 265 lb-ft. 2023 will have the same engine options. Tacoma owners are in denial that they will soon be forced to buy a turbo in newer models.

lol, those claims seem pretty tenuous at best.
I'm pretty sure that most ppl who install snorkels do it for looks and not for any functional reason.
Regardless, it does have a functional purpose and I don't see anything "tenuous" about those claims. The whole world is not in pose mode. :sunglasses:

I know I owned a 2016 which is my hate for them! :puke: The new 2023 2024 will be a 4cyl turbo.

According to Toyota's site, the 2023 will get the same engines. The 2024 could see the turbo introduced and Tacoma owners heads will explode.
You're right I got my years mixed up. :headbang: I remember when the Ranger came out and they were all laughing on TW. Jokes on them now!:angry::LOL:

Toyota did put turbos in the Tundra. That caused a lot of Toyota's fanboys to to go through the 7 stages of mourning. Buhbye V8.

Good I hope they need 12 stages. :lipssealed:

Seems like all the mid size are all going with a turbo now except the Frontier which is still a V6.

In reality, only a few will get upset. If Toyota does it right, most will welcome the change.
