Decided that I needed a fire extinguisher a little while back. I don’t like the larger canister extinguishers because of the life-span and size which makes mounting tricky.

I went with an Element E50 extinguisher stick. These things are awesome. Last longer than a smaller canister, and do not have a shelf-life. (Solid state material) they do have some drawbacks - cost and not being able to stop it once it starts when compared to a canister. But for me the pros outweigh the cons, making it well worth it.

I ended up drilling a few holes I. The rear under seat storage compartment and mounting it under the rear passenger storage space.

Fits perfectly and is out of the way and tucked in nicely.
Bolted in with stainless steel bolts/nuts/washers. Retention strap with some rubber grommets to clean it up as well. I ended up cutting the screws shorter with a Dremel because it was hitting the body underneath. Once cut shorter it fits perfectly.

All-in-all I’m super happy with how it turned out!

So compact. So how does it work?
the yellow caps on either end pop off and you use one of them to strike to top and it ignites similarly to a flare. It won't extinguish a huge fire, but for a smaller vehicle, brush or similar fire it seems to work very well. Extinguisher chemical doesn't leave any residue and is nontoxic which is a really nice bonus as well.

Video of it in action

Nice mounting location.

We have the element in both our vehicles, I just stick it under the drivers seat, next to my tomahawk... LOL

I do wonder if I could mount it on my bed rack, exposed to the weather etc... Would make it more accessible to everyone, not just driver.

EDIT: from their website...

IS ELEMENT AFFECTED BY EXTREME WEATHER & CAN IT GET WET? CAN I STORE IT IN MY CAR?
Element has been tested to work effectively in temperatures from -140F to +320F. Moreover Element's solid construction and no moving parts makes it unaffected by harsh environments or humidity. Element can safely be stored in damp and wet environments, provided that the yellow cap covering the tip stays present allowing the tip to remain dry.

Element can safely be stored in vehicles that live in hot climates

Guessing an email to them is going to be in order...

I have one mounted on the ceiling of my roof platform. I did so in the event so that even in odd circumstances a random stranger can access it as needed. For example, say Im inside a restaurant eating and someting catches on fire in the parking lot. If someone can spot my extinguisher and use it for some good that is fine by me. Not going to get bent out of shape over $20 something bucks.

I've considered adding an additional first aid station box on the exterior for similar thought processes.

This is sort of my thought process...

I bought a first aide box to put in the bed when we go camping/exploring. But also bought a small Plano Waterproof box to mount permenantly on the upright with emergency or trauma on it. Things like tq, packing gauze, etc in it.

Edit: the box I bought is also a Waterproof Plano, that I have small clear boxes to put inside. Each small box will serve a purpose, pain relief/medicine, boo-boo kit, eye care, wound care etc.

All my big trauma stuff is in it a kit in the cabin along with a sizable boo-boo pack of the usual things. I often save old medical stuff as well. Like my fancy sling for my shoulder surgery recently. Well it is part of my trauma kit now.

understood - as I tell my co-workers...

I carry on me to get to my bag, I carry in my bag to get to my truck and my truck to get me home . . .

tiny, small, medium, large

In the cab is the big , expensive, stuff. unlike those of you who have money to buy titanic lego kits, I am but a wee poor who must keep expensive stuff for themselves (and family) ;-)

also, the world could do with a few million less people . . . just not any of you, or any of my friends and family or anyone they care about . . . ?‍♂?

This waterproof case from Nanuk makes it clear to anyone what’s inside. Top quality too.

Sure, I have a link…

Also on Amazon. There are different sizes - mine is the 905. These models do not have the pick n pull foam - that came from another case.

Stout units, well-made. I think @subquark bought some of these. Then again, I think he’s going through the Amazon catalogue of products one by one. :D

Excuse me, we are discussing repurposing products for unintended uses.

Those look suspiciously like intended usage.
