I keep my bulky recovery gear, jumper cables, lug wrenches and so forth in my roof cases. Things I may need once in a blue moon. Anything else gets easy access in the side pods.

I no longer use flares that look like this... I bought a handful of led flashing lights - they are much brighter than a road flare, and last much longer...
But it is a point we'll taken.

In those cases a shovel would be a good deterant...
Plus, it's a whole lot less paperwork to hit someone with a shovel... Or so I've heard...
