Anyone ever see plastic puncture a truck tire before? Is this too big to plug?

Dang! Must have hit whatever it was just right. Might have to shove it through to patch.

I’ve worked in body shops etc. all my life and have never seen this happen. Crazy thing is the plastic is brittle! I tried to pull on it with my Leatherman and the plastic crumbled.

Seen it happen. Should be repairable, based on what I can see. As long as the steel belts didn't get torn during the puncture. It's impossible to give a definitive answer without seeing the tire in person, but I would guess it can be repaired.

Discount Tire will do it for free.

Strangest thing I've seen puncture a tire was an 8" adjustable wrench.

"Back in da day" when I was young and running OTR I had a flat on an outside drive tire. Coming across I-30 in AR. (Why do our brains remember this shit?) Loaded heavy (glass... again, why?) so couldn't just try to limp on in to the nearest terminal, which was @2 hours away. Found a phone (told ya it was back in da day!) and called Mnt. They sent me to the nearest tire shop.

Cause of the flat? Chicken bone. Yep. I was standing there BS'ing (shocker I know) with the tire guy while he was working. He pulled it out of the tire with some channel locks and held it up. After a stunned silence we both LOL. He'd been in the tire business for a long time and it was his first encounter with a chicken bone.

For those of you chicken conessurers it was a leg bone. ?

I can't say I'm terribly surprised. I lived in East TX for several years and ppl would just dump chicken bones and crawfish shells out of their cars all the time. Usually in parking lots, but I wouldn't put it past some slob to toss their KFC (or whatever their chicken joint of choice is) out the window while driving.

Crawfish dumped out into a sweltering parking lot when it's 110 outside is a bit on the nasty side of unpleasant. I can't bring myself to eat it because of that.

Dang! I drove around for who knows how long on my Sportster with 2 16p nails from a nail gun going completely through the bottom corner of the rear tire. You could see both ends.

I've seen a dog puncture a tire, the marrow in the broken off bone was no match for air pressure, and it deflated really fast with that bone scraw through the hole. I was the tech that had to replace that tire, hole was too big for plug/patch.

I've had a bolt stuck in my back right tire for about a year. Haven't dropped psi but the head of the bolt is almost non-existent from all the shredding that tire does with abs disabled.

Seen it a few times where people ran through post accident debris fields on the road and had plastic shards stuck in tires.
