Same here, except I don't have a damper.

I let that sob slam down. Give those unevenly measured tailgate cables a workout.
I used to but I had the cables snap on two other trucks I owned. I live in the Salt Belt which may have something to do with it.

If so which ones work really well.
Use to the cables but seems many have opted to use the Dampers.
Also start three other question threads:

1) should I install a catch can

2) should I install a one piece drive shaft

3) should I worry about using led bulbs in halogen bulb head lamp assemblies

I suggest for guys who are used to tailgate dampers better not to come in my country.
Here we all truck owners are very muscular and all we do is slamming tailgates all the time...

Thanks for starting this thread. Myself, I don't want to make any uneducated decisions, and threads on this topic are very helpful.

I have a damper story to tell because my tailgate damper got very damp. Here goes.
On a recent trip to upstate NY from NC we stopped in Scranton PA for the night. The next morning was all wind driven rain, so we hurried up and tossed the luggage in the bed (covered) and rushed along.
Rain rain all the way. We were above Albany when a pair of young females were hand signaling us our tailgate was lowered. DOH!
Nothing came out but was very damp, so a dryer was needed when we got there. Never again ! (I repeated to myself.) Just feeling a little embarrassed.

And you’ll get a cool virtual shirt to boot.
Lies! I got a second hand damper shirt out of pity from the cool people in the community here but I never got an official virtual Dave damper shirt.

Absolutely get the DeeZee. The truck is just a hunk of worthless metal, plastic and 303 Graphene without it.

4) what kind of oil/filter do you recommend

6) what tune do y’all run and why
