Nope that's why I had them do it instead of hours of frustration and swearing. ?
No way...did they just load a ton of bricks in your bed to make it level? $196 is like two hours of work...

The McPherson strut change on my wifes 10 year old rusty Edge sport was 2 hours. It's so close to what the edge has in the front, I can't see it being much more where I live.

The problem I normally run into is that a lot of shops won't install "Customer supplied parts" of any kind.

I called the local Mr Tire about an alignment an they said $79 for the alignment an asked why I was getting a new truck aligned...I said I'm installing a level kit...they said they could do that too, not sure on the exact price but it'd be over $150...they wouldn't say what it'd be under. My friend with a home auto business is doing it for $240. Don't think I trust Mr Tire.

Man! I feel your pain! I read, re-read, and read the instructions again. I gather everything I need to complete a "simple 2 hour install", and then I spend all day cussing.

My wife already knows that if I say the job will take 3 hours she plans that I will be in the garage all day. lol
I generally tell myself the same thing "Oh this should be quick, but really it'll be hours."
@Turborave...
One of the wisest things I've heard over my lifetime is this phrase from a Clint Eastwood movie, believe it or not: "A man's got to know his limitations..."

Do what you know you can do, and save up to pay someone to do those things you know are beyond your capabilities. There's no shame in that.
Very very much this.

When I did the ditch light install on my truck I knew I wanted something somewhat custom, there wasn't much in the way of space under the hood, but I know what I wanted needed to be waterproof, properly fused, and driven entirely by relays. I figured it might take me all day Saturday.

After more trips to various parts stores and electrical supply stores (because who would've thunk our trucks used Micro-2 and Micro-3 fuses instead of more "typical" ones?!....It took me all weekend to do, but I learned quite a few things (it was my first foray into that kind of electrical) but it was a real pain. https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/a-pillar-pod-install-distribution-box-build.6337/

I'm also going to find someone to install my suspension upgrade when the time comes.

I do all kinds of tinkering here and there but if I didn't have a problem I always wind up double and triple-checking my work because that's not how it's supposed to go.

Sometimes when a part does not install right or go back in place the way it should I hit it with my first.

I'm pretty much 50/50 that it finally bends to my will or I damage something.

I'm also sure my neighbors probably think I am a domestic violence abuser. They can't see me working, but they probably here all the rumblings like, "F*** you use you useless cunt!" and "Why do you do this to me you are a piece of s***?"
LMAO!!! I concur, I would never make it has a handyman, because my clients would kick me out with my language.

You folks need to understand the process. You start with a LFH...then a MFH and if necessary a BFH.

Little Flippin' hammer...Medium and Big. Ball peen hammer preferred.

Like many of you have been doing my own repairs and improvements since I could drive. Parts were made of stone grant you but still got around, anyways, about 70% of the time you’re right and things go pretty close to plan. The other 30% is the vocabulary exercises and self inflicted injuries. Now, if you didn’t learn anything while that was all going on then you definitely did something wrong still. See, that’s what draws us back to do these insane tasks normally with a bigger hammer the NEXT time we decide this is a ā€˜no brainer’ and jump right in! ?
