For me the important point is that it is a full size spare, not a donut. There was one review that said it was a donut spare, which would seem stupid. All my other Rangers had full size spares. Even the same wheel usually.I have the optional 18" rims with Dynapro ATM and my spare is a Dynapro HT.
Yes, it was dirty under there
They just don't know the difference between donut spare and steel wheelFor me the important point is that it is a full size spare, not a donut. There was one review that said it was a donut spare, which would seem stupid. All my other Rangers had full size spares. Even the same wheel usually.
My current ranger has the same aluminum wheel as the rest for the spare - but since I've only used the spare once in 20 years, I'm fine with a steel wheel - as long as it is a full size tire. They just don't know the difference between donut spare and steel wheel
Could be worse. The C-max has no spare, just a can of sealant and a small air pump. Punctured a tire on highway 101 just after leaving SFO (8 lane freeway). Had to have it towed. One reason the C-max is getting traded in.My current ranger has the same aluminum wheel as the rest for the spare - but since I've only used the spare once in 20 years, I'm fine with a steel wheel - as long as it is a full size tire.
I never realized how bad some of these "reviews" are - many were giving out incorrect info (like that). I guess it just goes along with the disappearing journalism these days.
I had to drive about 50 miles on a donut spare on my Honda and it was a terrible experience. Have to drive slow and the steering is terrible. I would have stopped at a tire shop but it was at night - they were all closed. I hope I never have to repeat that experience.
Thank you for going to look. I was kinda hoping Ford would supply all 5 tires the same LT rating. Being that the spare isn't the same load rating or construction as the 4 on road tires I figured there must be some warnings printed somewhere. I downloaded the owners manual. Yup, they mention " Full-size dissimilar spare " They state its for temporary use only and not to be driven more than 50MPH. Thanks again for the info.I have the optional LT tires. The spare is full size but not LT.
