Can't take the wind out of my sails...originals cost more. ??
Or dealer rejects warranty claim because an inferior replacement was used that melted and encased everything underneath it... Sorry pal, you own it!

Better yet, make it look rusty and unrecognizable. Give us an unbelievable story on how you were abused while in pursuit of your dream. We will tell you how to clean up and re arrange your diatribe. You will return as a Hero of the 'Covers for Everyone' revolution.

My 2022 Lariat did not come with one, as has been covered by others here.

So are we saying adding the cover is required by Ford to avoid voiding warranty, but even with it installed, it doesn't prevent water from collecting and causing the problem??

I may have misread one of these comments at some point.

Either way, it looks better with the cover installed, so I hopefully just ordered the right one on sale for $56... though shipping certainly offset any savings. Does anybody know what hardware is needed, if any, to go with the cover?

Thanks.

P.s. found my cover on getoemparts.com

Good info. The bolt/fastener kit was sold separately as I recall. Looks like the original thread that triggered this mess has disappeared.

Does it matter if the engine cover was installed by the owner vs the dealer? I know this is an incredibly easy install, I installed mine in 2 minutes when I bought my truck even before the TSB was released since I just thought it looked nice.

My concern would be if I did brick my head from water in the plugs, would Ford honor my warranty if a dealer didn't install the part? I know sometimes they are weird about this stuff.

Okay nobody has explained how water gets to top of the engine. Maybe that is the problem.
It all starts out at sea, the sun heats the water? and it evaporates into the clouds. At some point the clouds get....?
?

OK OK
@NotBudule did some really good detective work and found it comes from the wiper valance:
Water leaking onto spark plugs

Strange this isn't a wide spread or even a well known problem for that matter. The original thread that triggered this mess has disappeared? A complete bag of sht IMO.... Covers look good - every last Ranger should have one.

The real scandal was when Chevrolet recalled every last one of the early 3rd gen Camaros with the 5.0 motor and the air flap induction on the hood. They caught water like mad and filled the motors....incredibly bad design.

Not sure if it's true, but a friend of my 2nd cousin, twice removed, who read it on the internet, said that a few Ranger owners took off their hoods so the paint on the new engine covers they installed would dry and forgot to put the hoods back on, thus allowing h2o to accumulate and cause damage to various and sundry engine parts thereby voiding the 2nd part of the Ford warranty. So being not sure if this is true, could someone who has read their Ford warranty explain what the 2nd part of the warranty entails?

Best explanation yet. :)

In cases like this it’s always play the dummy. When they start up about having an engine cover voids warranty just shrug your shoulders and say it was always there as far as you know. I don’t open the hood so how would I know. Factory must have put it on there right!? Works like a charm.

Then get the service managers name and number and post it on here. Problem solved!!!
