Tailgate lock

I didn't read this whole thread, but some fobs have a separate button for the trunk. Which makes sense.
You got stuff you want to put in the back, but you don't want to unlock your whole car.
Or, you want in the car, but want the trunk to stay locked. Easy enough - I would think.

Thanks to all I’m going to go out and try some of the suggestions now.

I have to ask why? If your tailgate is unlocked then so is are your doors...Lock everything with one button...done...

That’s true you make a good point. I just wanted a little more assurance. I guess I’m just overthinking it

Wouldn’t that kill your back up camera as well?

No, not mine, anyway - if you pull the inside of the tailgate off it is pretty clear which connector goes just to the locking actuator. Sorry, I should have taken a pic at the time, but didn't. Still, it should be fairly straightforward.

Never seen a Ranger with a trunk.

the only other option would be to open up the tailgate and disconnect the wiring to the lock.
that would mean the FOB will never open your tailgate and you would need to use the key all the time.

Good solution, but some of us with '22s don't have a key hole for the tailgate ... =(

I know you are razzing me, but the concept is similar, and Ford should easily be able to set up the fob so the tailgate lock vs the door locks are separate. In fact, most fobs allow for one click just the driver door and two clicks for all the doors. But I'm guessing they saved a couple dollars by not adding a feature to separate the tailgate from the doors. Like: $1 multiplied by 100,000 equals......
