Not gonna lie, this got my attention.
Maybe if/when Ram comes out with a mid-size I'll give it a look. As for the Chebbie, I wouldn't even bother to stop by a dealer to see one. Ho Humm !
Won't be giving up the Ranger for a looooong time.

Rube Goldberg himself could not have designed a more complex valvetrain.
The Stupid design combined with GM quality could spell disaster.
As usual they are trying to play catch-up to Ford.
It does look nice and technically hits every marketing target.
In a world without mechanics it will soon make a beautiful lawn ornament.
yeah that's the risk with GM that many don't care to take, they sometimes come up with very good stuff, other times owners are stuck being the guinea pigs to work out the kinks. Nissan invested big bucks in a complex variable compression engine that doesn't really provide much benefit over their standard power plants.

Only reason rangers were in my radar was from Dodge canceling their dakota return.

Interior of the current gen colorado/canyon is too "car" like for me, and their transmission woes was enough to skip to the ranger.

If I ever get a GM product, it's gonna be one they give to me as payment back for the screwing over they did to me back in 2008/2009...lost enough to buy a new Corvette.
When they decide to give me a vehicle, I'll trade it in on the first running Yugo I can find.

Why arent they using the 10R80? It was a joint development between GM & Ford, it would only make sense for them to throw it in the new colorado

If the timeline is correct, that means Ford will have at least two years before the 6G comes out. Time for improvements?

I like it. Many cool features and did I see a built in Stealth Tailgate Damper??
It is a combo damper and lift assist actually. GM has had that on the Colorado/Canyon for several years now.

I actually like them better there than up on the face by the screen. They blend in (obviously most of us missed them. lol) and I think you could angle them better on your body. Here that's important with the sun beating on you.
If we missed them originally, how effective can they be?!?!

The 8 speeds did earn their claim to fame in 2017 and 2018. The 2019 I had received the new transmission fluid as part of delivery and it was always smooth. The 3.6 V6 engine in front of it though didn't make much torque down low where it needed it. I'll get rocks thrown at me, but I would say the 8 speed shifted smoother than our 10 speeds do.
I have no issues with the 10R80 in my Ranger or the 8HP45 ZF transmission in my Chrysler 300s....
