I don't want to hijack this very important thread. But I would also like to ask those who have installed and tested an aftermarket controllers to include a wiring diagram of how they did it

I updated my first post a few days ago to include all the trailer wiring diagrams direct from Ford's Tech Service website.

Took my 10-ton utlity trailer for a short test spin with the Ranger using the Redarc. Everything worked well. The trailer battery was charging with the 12v (the 12v only is on when the engine is running, not with the key at accessory). The brakes worked well. I had the blue trailer brake wire on my Ranger.

I spent about 3 hours on install of redarc tow pro elite but that could have been 1.5, if at the time I would have looked for a light blue wire rather than a black green wire. Dealership did not have an install available and even emailed Ford but was told no available parts.

Wanted to mount below the 4x4 selector but the back of the pannel was all reinforced with plastic ribbing and too thick. Finding this location was the second most time consuming part of install. It is convenient enough for trailering and controller works great. Recommend having the trailer available for testing that install was successful though as control knob only lights up blue for a second if you press the override without trailer connected.

Did 100 miles with 4500 lbs camper and no issues so far.

That's a nice spot for the switch. I have not permanently mounted my switch yet. I just have the cable coming up with the switch attached. Was waiting to see where Ford put it.

Thought I saw some of the early demo videos with it mounted below the 4x4 selector which is why I wanted to put it there, but they may have also had the trim ring and just drilled out all the reinforced ribbing. I didn't want the extra trim piece though and I never went back to see if those demo models were just 4x2s with the controller knob installed in the 4x4 selector blank.

Wired the controller today. VERY easy thanks to the great pictures posted by forum members.
Confirmed that when the manual braking lever is moved to full brake, I get the full voltage at the brake pin on the 7-pin connector.

It does NOT get in my way entering or exiting. (short legs??)
