Hello 5g forum goers,
Anybody running weld on rock sliders? I was wondering how that effects warranty. Does it void your 3 year/60000km bumper to bumper and any potential recall down the road? Found a local fabricator to make sliders for my ranger. He gave me the option of weld on or fabbing up some mounts for bolt on. Weld on sounded better in my opinion as the fabricator explained he would be cutting out some sizeable holes in my frame to use his mounting plates for bolt on. Thanks.

Nope. I have Shrockworks rock sliders. All bolts went through frame. I had to drill only one hole. all other bolts used pre-existing holes. easy to install. easy to remove IF I ever sell my truck and the new owner doesn't like them.
They work. Saved my rocker panels on a couple occasions.

I have not seen any domestic sliders made like this, but this is how the australians do it, and I think I will be getting something similar made. These are from Legendex.

Yeah something like that would be sick, no welding, small holes if any at all.

Originally considered shrockworks but didn’t want to deal with the hassle crossing into Canada and however much I would be charged duty.

If your frame breaks in half; yes - they are going to blame the modification. If your engine slings a rod out the side of the block it would be a bit hard for them to link the two. The failure has to be caused by the mod to void the basic/stock warranty.

I went with welded on Rocky Road Outfitters. https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/rock-sliders-for-your-ranger.15333/page-3#post-337017

Been through two, regular services by the dealership since and no comments. I think it would be extremely rare for a frame-related recall and the Rocky's are well clear of any maintainable sub-system or access point.

Ditto for Rocky Road Outfitters and welding them. To me just makes since to make them securely wielded the frame then ensure they are painted and anti corrosion proofed.
That is if mine that ordered in January ever get built and shipped?

Lol I've been waiting for mine since January as well. Emailed them a couple of weeks ago and they said I wasn't near the top of the list but they were putting out 50 sets a week. Must be an awfully long wait list!

We sell a ton of the Shrockworks sliders and they're awesome. I have a set on my truck and they're been put through hell and back. Still holding up strong!

Let me know if you're interested, I can try and get you a good price!
