It not the entire box, just tue air distribution portion of tue box. And yes it is due to it warping.

I had to get this done on my truck 2 years ago. After it was done I was set to go.

On a side note why do you need to rwplace the screen under warranty?
There are vertical lines on the screen, which are visible when the screen is in the darker mode for night time.

Waiting for my new heater box...about a month now. Still on back order. Kind of frustrating as the drivers side does nothing but pump "HI" heat all the time....even with the A/C on. They passenger side adjusts. I hope they get it in before summer time. Is what it is.

Parts are available according to my dealership. Mine is scheduled to be replaced next Thursday.

Just dropped mine off for this issue.

Hopefully parts will be available, along with a new parking brake boot.

Said it is not a fun job.

I've got mine one heading to the dealer March 29th for this same issue, hot air on DS and ice cold on PS, first real issue with the truck in the almost 2 years I've had it(21k miles), all I hope is the part is available before summer hits.

FYI-

SSM 49264 - 2019-2020 Ranger - Climate Control Temperature Will Not Adjust With Clicking/Snapping Noise From The Dash - Built On Or Before 30-Jul-2020

Some 2019-2020 Ranger vehicles built on or before 30-Jul-2020 may experience poor and/or no temperature change when the temperature is adjusted in the climate control system. There may also be a clicking/snapping noise from behind the instrument panel. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1082 and/or B1081 may also be retrieved from the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to an issue with the blend door and its controls. To avoid repeat repairs, it is recommended to replace the climate control housing assembly (service base part# 18478). Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 412-00.

Has anyone heard if there is gonna be a recall on this ? I have a 2019 Ford Ranger 52k miles. I’m out of warranty was told $207 for part $900 labor to tear the whole dash apart to fix………..not very happy especially when they told me the new part has been updated! Sounds like a factory defect to me.

Curious on this as well, mine does tend to make some noise but seems to work just fine. I'm still under warranty tho, might look into getting it addressed this summer

Most likely No Warranty since it's not a safety issue.

Get it in and get it looked at.

I thought mine was fine since I leave it on Auto all the time.

Based on some comments here I tested it and sure enough mine had mild symptoms.

My bumper to bumper expires in December so I'm getting it done now.

It's definitely not a safety issue unfortunately so a recall will not happen. Is it an updated design? Absolutely. I had it done on mine with roughly 35,000 miles on it. Once the job is done you won't have to worry about it again

That price sounds pretty fair. I've seen estimates of $1700 on here an one for over 3K. I bought an extended warranty for my truck 2 years after buying it for this reason.

If you're handy an don't mind digging into your dash there's a YouTube video of a home repair. It only replaces the actuator but it's on around $50. If the system is warped it will probably come back in another 50K miles.

Just picked my truck up from the dealership. The original quote I was given for SSM 50083 was $2500 in total, with $1000 for parts and 10.2 hours labor at $1300. Luckily my dealership contacted Ford and negotiated the price down to $430 for me as I am out of warranty.

I watched the YouTube video too and managed to replace the blend door actuator myself but since the door is warped it just stresses and ends up breaking the new actuator.

I figured it would be a temp fix. If it worked for a year or two it might be an option for someone that couldn't write that check. Glad they worked with you.
