I am sort of lucky with the prices here not being too crazy, but I thought about turning it back on the other day. I'd assume those seeing close to 6 dollars already have or will turn it back on to get some extra mpgs out of the ranger.... well that or drive smaller cars. My other ride is a minivan that gets worse MPG and a one-ton chevy that burns fuel without running it gets so bad gas mileage (joke it isn't leaking etc)

Mine is still off but I am getting close to being annoyed by it, almost.

I bet many have but are not saying.

I also bet many that lived by the “top tier” only gas stations are now considering 7-11 or circle k and is adding an occasional fuel additive.

I knew the gas prices were going to go up when I bought my Ranger. The Spring after the 2020 elections. That was a major part of the campaign, to purposely put us in an energy crisis to force us to electric vehicles and alternative fuels. But holy shit, I didn't know it was going to be this bad!

Even if gas goes up to $10.00/gal I wont turn that darn thing back on. That's how much I can't stand it.

Wouldn’t I have to use D for that - mine just doesn’t seem to want to move out of S - is it stuck or is it it me?

I figured after taking delivery two weeks ago, I would give it a really fair chance, and learn how it works, so I can try to work in sync with it. (it's the engineer side of me doing it's thing)

I have to say, after a short adjustment of about 2 days, once I came to understand how it works, I have actually been ok with it being enabled.

My literal only gripe about it, is that it encourages 'rolling stops' at stop signs, since out here in the rural burbs, it's rare there is enough cross traffic warranting a full on stop for a few seconds.

Otherwise, I just have gotten better at predicting traffic lights up ahead to slow early and coast/creep until the light changes, or, if I see I will be stopped for a while, come right to a stop and let it shut off.

So, for me, it's basically been on the whole time. That probably makes me the odd duck around here. (not as odd as budule though... LOL) Hopefully it really does help with fuel economy... I will be tracking consumption for the first year or so using the Fuelly app, so we'll see...

Truth is your damper arm is too weak to push the button.
Even worse. Mine's disabled through the nightlight I have plugged in and I'm not sure I have the strength now to pull it out. :frown:

I'm not a fan and think it's obnoxious. Does anyone know exactly how much of any fuel savings are realized with it turned on?

I made tacos today with Carnitas and a homemade habanero sauce. So my ASS has not been turned back on yet but I imagine it will be in turbo mode soon.
Aguie's the one in the last frame.?

I'm not turning it back on, it's not worth the price of replacing the starter, etc., after it's used constantly...

We live less than 5 miles to both of our jobs and my co-workers give me hell about living in the city... I'm really happy we live so close to work now! Some of my co-workers live so far out in the sticks, that they normally have to fill up their big ass 4x4 trucks every 3-4 days and some of those truck are diesel....

This is absolute BS, but unless we all start walking/riding a bicycle to work, I'm not going to swap to an electric vehicle, period!

Sorry to rant :p

It's false economy. Your gas costs might go down a bit but your gonna need a new starter that much sooner.
Unless the price of a better starter was baked into the cost of the truck and most of us are not using it like we should?

That would assume the starter is a better unit than Rangers that have a no ASS option - doubt it.
