I had thought about this and may look into it. I still think that these types of scoops will have little to no effect and are mostly cosmetic. The way the front grill is designed with the center horizontal air damn separating the grill into two, along with the vertical air damns along the radiator. There is plenty of frontal pressure that will force air towards the intake to supply fresh air. I would think that if a simple plastic scoop, that would cost less than $100, could improve MPG to any appreciable amount, then the engineers at Ford would have included it.

Since you mention water ingress. The potential for water ingress may very well be a logical reason why they are not included in vehicles. Without some sort of additional coarse filter or method to divert water away from the intake, you may just be inadvertently introducing a way for water to get splashed up and around the air intake when driving in wet conditions.

Not to divert from the purpose of this thread. But it would be interesting to see the wind tunnel testing for the Ranger. There are a few out there for the F150. It's amazing all the engineering time and thought that goes into improving the aero on these vehicles.

That little lip on the plastic on the tailgate. Yup serves a purpose and is not just some designers whimsical design. That little lip creates enough of a rise in the air flow as it flows over the cab towards the rear of the vehicle so air doesn't hit inside the tailgate area increasing the drag coefficient of the vehicle.

I know, right? We have laws here about this kind of thing.

We’ve already sent special agents to his parents’ house to confiscate the official hockey sweater he was swaddled in as a baby - these are official government property. The wayward Canadian then has 90 days to lace up the skates and play in order to secure the return of the sweater and avoid deportation. Because this type of behaviour can be linked to the father’s poor parenting skills, the sweater is then placed over the head of the father and the back of the sweater is quickly pulled up over his head for the Donnybrook you mentioned.
