Clearance is a specific measurement from level ground to the lowest part of your vehicle.
If you had said "overall minimum ground clearance" I would agree with you. But just saying "clearance" is a more generic term. You absolutely increase clearance at the front of the truck with a lift/level and that is all I said.

Sure, redefining terms will change things allot. "Clearance" is overall minimum ground clearance as an industry wide standard.

Using your same example, leveling will lower your rear bumper, there by lessening clearance.

Clearance should not be confused with approach or departure angle .

if were are going to debate the lift/level ground clearance thing, can we also add in whether the earth is a sphere, or flat??

see, you're totally missing the fun part of being on a forum...it's called interacting....i do it all the time. even at home. I'll talk to the cats when they are being dicks too. they never answer though. I dont lose sleep over it.

I guess i could sit on a couch with my grumpy old man pants on and be miserable. Die slowly in my misery hating that life has nothing to offer except impending death down the road.

Or I'll enter the conversation and throw something out there that's on my mind. Sometimes its worthy...sometimes its not.

How are you gaining clearance??
Front diff and lower suspension does not move.
They both have more clearance if the leveling kit allows you to fit taller tires.
I'm going to put the BDS 2" kit on mine with slightly larger tires but it'll be mostly for looks.

insight on lawsuits.

just a personal anecdote, keeping in mind this is in Canada, so there's a lot less frivolous suing going on than the states. for comparison

there was a personal injury accident within the company.
the person involved was injured seriously but didn't die.

because my name was on some of the documentation related to the incident, I was sued for damages. So were my coworkers, managers, bosses and company executives. Also sued were third party companies related to the products involved in the accident, including manufacturers and repair companies.
There were at least 30 names of individuals and companies on the initial personal injury claim.

Basically what happened in the beginning was everyone involved got sued. We were all forced to hire lawyers in our defence. as time went on and further evidence, and investigation proceeded names were dropped off the list. Basically, the ones with the money remained. It was a slow process, but appeared methodical in the way it was handled. It tied everyone up and all sorts of non disclosure agreements etc were signed, literally preventing anyone from talking freely about it. Everything was communicated through lawyers now.

In relation to removing crash bars, lets hypothesize about the scenario.

Dave puts a lift kit on his truck, he takes Phil for a test drive.
somewhere on the back 9 of the drive, something goes awry and Dave's truck suffers a sudden and strong impact to the the right front.
sadly, the impact was severe enough that Phil's cab space was compromised and he suffered fatal injuries.
Phil's estate feels the loss and wants compensation as he was the matriarch and money maker.
The lawyers start suing. They sue Ford, They sue rough country, they sue 5 star tuning and of course Dave gets sued as well.
Rough country cant be sure in any of their suspension components failed. They hire a metallurgy specialist to investigate the suspension components.
5 star doesn't think their software would have any link to an impact and the lawyers agree, dropping them from the lawsuit.
Ford defends themselves proudly, and show the investigators quickly that the crash bars were removed, rendering the safety rating of the truck invalid.
the bullseye narrows.
Dave meets with investigators, and they ask him one simple question....did you willingly remove safety devices to lift your truck???

Dave's sitting on the fire now. Pretty much alone.

that's just my opinion on how it possibly would go down.

Its why I wouldn't willingly remove them. But i would consider installing a substitute. and actually pay someone else to do it. keep myself as far from the liability chain as possible.
Yeah that is not how it would go down I can say for a fact. Rocky Ridge rangers and f150's both of which are lifted and upgraded with full factory warranty and support from ford have the crash bars removed and still retain full factory warranty backing and coverage. Rocky ridge even gets their trucks directly from ford.

The English language is sure taking a beating lately. "RAKE" I rake sticks and leaves not trucks. I dont have a rake in my truck. Trucks are designed to carry a load therefore the truck is higher in the back when it is empty. When you put a load in the bed the back will go down. It is a truck. If it wasnt designed that way when you put a load in the bed the back would drag. I have been an owner of a truck since 1968 and I hate to see the woussy-facation of the truck. I just created a bifurcation of the English language. :facepalm:
