Another one bites the dust. 13.5k miles less than one year old. Material is total junk. What were they thinking with this crap?

Proof positive the the bean counters @ Ford are alive and well...Another one bites the dust. 13.5k miles less than one year old. Material is total junk. What were they thinking with this crap?
I'm with Phil, I bet I've only used my emergency brake a handfull of times so it still looks new.Hi Dale,
Thanks! Checked mine, but because it has only operated a few times, still looks brand new. Do you plan to take it back to the dealer? It sort of looks like the white cracked area is a point of flex. In looking at mine it has so many creases and crinkled areas It almost looks like it was first used in a school bus and grafted onto the Ranger.... I do not view it as a "clean" design. Wonder which manufacturer is responsible for this boot. Someone needs to diagnose what is going on here. Some poor engineer in body trim needs to have a few of these piled on his desk for the supplier to visit and assess. Terrible to have so many complaints on such a visible trim item. I am no expert but I am wondering if this is a synthetic and not real leather.

I will keep this in mind. I don't have my Ranger yet, but after reading this thread, I figured I better get at least a contact point should the need arise. I honestly wouldn't mind even a neoprene or similar cover/boot, just as long it looks decent. But either way, thanks for the heads upCheck with Redline Leather...they have been making leather e-brake boots, shift boots, and many other products for many years.
If they do not currently make one, they will ask you to send them yours and they will copy it.

On one of the other threads on this topic, @Jake said he had arranged to send Redline his boot so they can copy it. No update on that yet, but once they have the template you should be able to purchase real leather boots through them. This is disheartening to read. Anyone make an aftermarket boot to slip on?
I sent mine to them all the way to Poland in January. Month later i hadn't gotten any word from them so i sent an email to check that it actually got there and they said they had it. No word on when i should be expecting the new one back but i hope it's soon, getting tired of the gaping hole in the console. On one of the other threads on this topic, @Jake said he had arranged to send Redline his boot so they can copy it.
