I’m looking to pick up a RIGd UltraSwing Hitch Carrier and have a couple of question for those of you carrying a matching full size spare…

First, do you rotate your spare with your other wheels?

Second, if you do, do you run a 5th TPMS sensor?

I have full size spare, but do not have the tire mounted on a matching wheel so I did not bother with TPMS and I don't plan on rotating.

Hey RJ,

Yes, I have a matching spare (wheel and tire), Yes, I rotate it in and Yes, I have a TPMS sensor.

Rotate it in every oil change - if your dealer does your “The Works” service, let them know to rotate the spare into the rotation - otherwise, they won’t even think about it. They have no reason to for the OEM spare.

That’ll look cool hanging off the back of your Ranger - pics and a review please, when it’s done.

I don't have a matching spare tire on the Ranger so it gets a 4 wheel rotation. My Jeep does have a full matching spare and I do rotate a 5 wheel rotation. If the Ranger had a matching spare, I would do a 5 wheel rotation.

Love the avatar Kent - I think I found a pic of you and your buddies online.

i have two full spares but they are on steel wheels and do not match so i dont put them in the four tire rotation. plus i figure if i ever need the spares it will likely be in the worst moment so having them new is a good thing. it may be better to rotate them in and have the same tread wear and all that but im not gonna mess with it. i go through tires quick, good tires are kinda like a injury stopper. one blow out can cost a life. soon as my tires are getting worn and cracked i let em go. i like the hitch idea! i wonder if it blocks the factory back up camera ??

Definitely an interesting deal but the only issues I see are the parking sensors are blocked and the backup camera is blocked as well. Other then that its not too bad.

Actually, if that’s the USS Prime and my research is correct, this is likely a bit more accurate….

Much respect.
It was the USS Prime (MSO 466), an oceanic minesweeper. (Actually, I think the MSO stood for Mighty Slow Outfit). This group looks about right...
