You want a black steelie mismatched rim to use in a 5 tire rotation schedule?

So I'm kinda stuck here. I'd like to help, but not really understanding the goal. Why do you want to include it in rotation?

Ya I upgraded to 18 inch wheels at time of purchase (Lariat oem) and my full size spare is a 17" but they put a taller tire on it to match the 18" revolutions. Luckily when I went down to 17"/aftermarket wheels and tires I was able to buy 5 wild peaks and the spare fits in the spot for it. I had it balanced but not road forced and I did not buy a 5th TPMS.

Were are you looking? I have a 2021 XL-STX, so mine are the Black Painted/machined 18" rims. Quite possibly the ugliest set of OEM rims ever made. I really like the appearance of the "Sport" rims, but not sure if those are 18"?
I like this site to see what is available, and to find the Hollander interchange number that salvage yards use to identify the exact part.

I shop on my local Craigslist, but mostly on eBay. On eBay, I buy almost exclusively from commercial sellers, not private parties.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. But, I’ve never had this dilemma before and I’m not exactly sure the best plan of attack.

I just bought 265/70R18 Wildpeaks to fit into the stock Lariat wheels. But, I’m unable to find a comparable 17” tire that fits the steel rim. I do have on hand a brand new General ATX at 265/70R17 that are only 1” smaller in diameter and the same width.

Is that my best bet? I have no desire to buy a new wheel to stick under there - but, I guess I’ll keep an eye on used…

But, for now if that spare was to be mounted for short while - 1” is acceptable?

Unable to locate one, or unable to find a compatible size? 285/70-17 is essentially a perfect match and a very common size. Used tire shops should have options, or a very short waiting list to get one.

1" may work, but may not. Test drive and check for error messages in the only way to be sure.

That’s nearly an inch wider. Thought I was cutting it close without rubbing with the 10.4”. That’s 11.2”. Maybe this is the solution I was looking for.

For an emergency use spare, diameter is the major factor, width is less important, and lots of members are running 285/70-17 on factory rims, so fit shouldn't be an issue.

265/70-18 is 32.6 so 235/85R17 (32.7) or 255/75R17 (32.1) or 275/70R17 (32.2) should all work as a spare, but far less common so could be harder to find a single tire without paying full retail buying brand new.

My spare is a 275/70-17 (32.2) to go with my 255/70-18 (32.1) winter set, but I ended up running it 3,000 miles with my 285/70-17 (32.7) summers without getting an error message, so 0.5 inches seems to be within the trucks limits.

Super helpful. Thanks.

Making me think I should have went with 285/65R18 for the Wildpeaks.

I take that back. Looks like the 265/70 actually have wider tread on the ground and significantly less expensive at $263 ea vs $393. Sheesh.

I’ll run the 265/70R17 Grabber until I can find a 275/70R17 for cheap. That seems like my best bet.

Appreciate the assist. It sometimes just helps bouncing info off of others. Appreciate this forum.

I'm in the same boat, Discount Tire was able to order me an 18" steelie to match my upgraded 265/70/18 size tires. Original was 265/60/18, my original spare is 265/65/17.

Maybe check @ Discount Tire?
