I found plugs for my…ehem, holes.Ok, because I believe in complete transparency even if it makes me look like an absolute doofus…….
It appears I too have the offending holes.
Now, I could make a long-winded yet convincing argument in my own defense, citing examples from my 2014 Wrangler….but I’m just gonna roll with the “I’m an idiot” confession and save us all a bunch of time.
On the plus side, now I look like a frikkin’ savant for ordering the solution to a problem before I even knew the problem needed a solution.
Geez I’m brilliant.
On a serious note, I thought the holes were in the vertical pinch plate (?) just below the rocker panel. That’s where they were in the Jeep. I really don’t bend well enough to get a good view of the underside of the rockers. Can I assume that by now we’re all fairly certain these don’t serve as weep holes or something? I believe they do serve as an attachment point for my AMP PowerStep lights, so perhaps they’re intended for board/step lighting upgrades?
Apologies for derailing this thread. Not the first time I’ve steered the train way off the proverbial tracks……and I’m fairly certain it won’t be the last.
Did I mention I’m kinda old and take meds…..so have some patience with me. Thanks.
I seem to recall seeing your post on this and thinking it was brilliant. I wish I were better at wiring because I’d do this in a heartbeat. I’m sure I could simply tap in to my PowerStep lights and it would be a breeze. Just for kicks, would you mind posting the link for those again?I found plugs for my…ehem, holes.

Wiring them was easy. Fishing the wires was a little tricky for a couple spots. Just get 3/4” light. Here is a link, if you are in Canada.I seem to recall seeing your post on this and thinking it was brilliant. I wish I were better at wiring because I’d do this in a heartbeat. In all seriousness I hope you realize I'm being sarcastic and I'm totally jelly of you.Yep, you're the winner.
C'mon man, add an emoticon or something! LOL I completely thought you were serious. Jelly? Noooo, I'm disgusted with my self for paying that much for 2 lights. In all seriousness I hope you realize I'm being sarcastic and I'm totally jelly of you.
Lookin in the Mirror ?
True dat, I did get off easy, I'll be slowing down when using the tailgate for work from now on.Wow Matthew, you got off easy - that could have been a lot worse.
As a renovation contractor, I often use my tailgate as a sawhorse for those quick one-off cuts. However, this could have been avoided. Don’t get me wrong - I’m not questioning your skills.
Clearly, you’ve lost so much muscle mass due to the tailgate damper, you can’t keep a power saw from getting away on you.
?Did you look in the right area? I got worried when I saw this. I bought them too, didn't look until just now. I found a bunch of holes on my Oct 2021 built Ranger Supercrew.I need to get caught up in this thread. I’m behind by about a week, but around the point I left off folks were ordering 3/4” plugs to fill the holes along the bottom of the rocker panels/pinch seams.
So of course, I jumped all over the 24-pack on Amazon.
They arrived yesterday.
The punchline here is that my 2021 doesn’t have the offending holes that beg to be plugged.
Lol, you’d think I’d have taken the 12 seconds required to actually check this out before placing the order….but no; I just jumped in and ran with the rest of the herd.
When they say it’s easy to spend money while hangin’ around here, they ain’t lying. I think I may have just set some kind of record.

The really sad thing is that I now have to drill a bunch of 3/4” holes all over my truck to get these to fit. What an absolute PITA.
Bahahaha. Hopefully it’s obvious that I’m kidding.
I mean, drilling would be waaaay too much work. I’m just gonna superglue them into place. ?
Jim, one of these days your day will come and you'll need a damper. Until then just keep buying DeeZee stuff because I still make money. ?Something from DeeZee...and since I am a real man and don't have a damper I could easily lift the box containing a new rear step to save my old knees when it's time to get up in the box.
