Got some inital CAD idea up and running. I am letting it print over night. But the current plan is to use this threaded hole right here (in red) and mount to it using a countersunk fastener (some inspiration taken from the tailgate Damper setup). The angled portion right below it will hopefully stop the bracket from rotating if the antenna is pulled backwards by a tree branch.

I've got mine mounted up to the front bumper. This gets some weird looks here in GA, but it's the norm in Australia. I wish I could get the Aussie antenna! They are much stouter for front mount. I had to ditch my 4' antenna for a 2' antenna because at 90 mph it tries to lean back to my windshield. ?

Just wondering if anyone has tried to mount an antenna on the swing out fender toolbox set up. Seams like it would be an option for those that don’t put any kind bed cover on. Would be easy to run a ground strap from the mount down to a ground or the frame from there.

I took a flat piece of 1/8" steel and it's bolted to my pod light bracket. Seems to be doing ok. I am using a comet SS-460SBNMO but I'm looking for something a little better that's not super tall.

Got some awesome inspiration from this thread. Finally got my Baofeng-UV5R mounted and wired via Lip NMO mount. The firewall wiring wasn't horrible, but the wire hanger hook tip made it MUCH easier. Especially routing it up behind the dash fascia.

It's a little crowded, but it works!

I’ve been running a portable the same way for the whole time I’ve owned the truck until I finally grabbed a headliner rack and got a legit mobile so I can use APRS to help track routes. Waiting for the weather to break so I can finish the power install. Will have 8 gauge power through the firewall with ham and cell booster antenna cables through the rear cab gasket once it’s done.

it’s the overhead rack from OGFab.com, you simply take out the screws for the grab handles in the back row and it screws right up. It’s got bars welded from side to side on top so it doesn’t flex, and can hold a decent amount of weight. He supplies new longer screws and spacers. Very nice addition.
