Went with the wildpeaks 285/70/17 in P series as well. Crash bars and front air dam had to go, still get a rub on the fender liner at full lock with the Eibach pro lift set about 2.5".

The Rangers of everywhere else in the world do not have crash bars. Not in the front, not in the back. OTOH we have plastic bumpers. Behind the bumpers there is a crash bar, between the frame rails, with a foam in front of it. That is for pedestrian protection, not the truck's occupants.
Yet, in what the wheels, footwell and similar are concerned there is no crash protection. Actually, I believe the wheels and articulation in the suspension in a frontal crash are more elastic than metal crash bars, which could save lives in case the airbags do not deploy.
The EUDM version has 5* NCAP.

I will most likely go with the Wildpeak AT tires when the factory Hankook tires wear out. I have ran the Wildpeak's on other vehicles and they have always done well in all types of conditions from monsoon rains, mud and snow/ice.

I'm staying out of the debate over the crash bars. Especially since I don't plan on lifting my truck or going bigger than stock tire size.

That's wild you still have a rub. Are your wheels spaced at all?

I would gladly invite you for a beer. I would have to go pick up some White Claw for ya but we would have a great time until your ankles got crushed.
On a serious note, does anyone know if Conor McGregor owns a Ranger? I'm starting to think maybe that did his ankle in and not Poirier ?

Was going to go with a smaller size but I thought go big or go home. These look absolutely amazing. My tire Boner will not go down.

Yes I completely removed the front crash bars and heavily modified the rear crash bars; so what, my other vehicle is an 87 GMC truck with no airbags and only one working seatbelt so obviously safety is not my top priority.

Yes a tire of this size will also fit in the spare location.

Yes I have faction Fab 1.5 spacers from our good friends at Stage 3 motorsports on as well.

No, at least on my truck, you do not have to do anything with the TPMS system, it resets itself.

Those look GREAT!

I am keeping my stock wheels as well, but mine are 18's and the 285 tire options are bumming me out. I sure wish more tire options were available for the 18" wheels that are 6 ply and NOT 10. With so many mid size trucks, I can't believe there aren't more options for a lighter duty A/T tire. I've been holding off buying new tires for awhile hoping for some more options to come out.

I too, still rub. Only at full lock left, and only on the like felt anti-corrosion liner thing. Really off-putting...

I have the wild peaks (265/70/17) and I am wondering if anyone has had this issue. I have 2.5 leveling kit and the tires have worn consistently on the outside. I have rotated every 10K, done one additional alignment and the same shop showed me that the camber was maxed out but within spec and should be ok. regardless, I am going to have the tires flipped on the rims because there is still substantial meat on them and can get another year of life.
I do, in the same size. But my tires are wearing out on the inside, not outside. They were wearing evenly for about 15k miles, and then I got an alignment and tire rotation, and they suddenly started wearing out unevenly on the inside. Got another alignment and rotation 5k miles later when I noticed it. Alignment was slightly out of spec but not enough to explain the drastic uneven wear.

I have 25k miles on these tires now and I think I'll be lucky to get another 10k. I love these tires, but I'm not too impressed with the wear (although I do use these tires pretty hard). I'll probably get another brand next time, just for the sake of comparison. Currently deciding between Nitto, Toyo, and BfG.

we both know that data is buried into mountains of internet searches.
but i'll do my best to pick out tidbits. let me know when you've had enough.
I could do this for days.
I'm sorry did I ask for data showing that crashes could be different with and without the bars, or support for your statement, that my safety rating was affected?

Here is the statement I question, so it'll be easy to stay on topic.

"i would say he didnt follow your instruction re: safety rating
the ranger got that rating with bars installed"

Maybe the addition of a full steel bumper has an affect on the safety rating and compensates for the crash bar removal. Maybe the crash bars brought the over all score from 79 down to 78, but both scores fall within a 4 star safety rating.

Different Equipment, Different Results
The reason for the disparity between these two models has to do with protective steel tubular bars which are welded to the frame and positioned in the front wheel wells exclusively on 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew models. Those help the SuperCrew model survive the small-overlap test.

You are a sneaky lil Data Queen aren't you. Its obvious but I'll state it anyway; the F-150 is not the Ranger. Yes Ext Cab F-150s were having a problem, thus Ford added more structure that Included crash-bars but that was not ALL they added to the crew cab to give it a good crash rating, they added additional sheet metal cab structure as well.

Show my where Ford EVER had a frontal offset (or head-on) intrusion problem with a 5G Ranger. Keep in mind, apparently, the Euro/African Ranger does NOT have crash-bars and hasn't since its 2012 introduction (This is hearsay on my part, I do not know it for FACT but it has been stated, even on this very thread) and it still gets a very good Euro crash test rating. Even with working on this "all day" you are unable to produce actual Ranger front crash-bar data because its not out there.

I thought honesty and integrity were your stalwarts RP?

you guys can nit pick all you want. I dont feel I need to browse for hours longer to convince idiots of basic physics.
you know as well as any third grader, that the addition or removal of anything structural related will have an effect on the overall safety level.
I'm not going to browse European safety sites to try and prove anything, nor will i try an correlate their rating sytems within North America standards...the basic concept stands.

You're more than welcome to remove your bars, there is no law stating they must be installed. just man up when it all goes to hell in a crash.
I sure will man up my friend when the time comes. Thanks for your participation.

I'll keep my eyes open on copart, find some wreck and get back to you on it. you're not an idiot, they never tested a Ranger without bars for comparison.
Possibly not true. If Euro spec Rangers do not have them, then Euro spec Rangers would not be tested with them in Europe. Again, I do not really know if all Euro spec Rangers had them or not. Euro spec Rangers got a very good crash test in Europe either way.
