For those with highway vibrations, try checking your u-bolts and tightening them down to 98 ft/lbs. Let me if know this makes a difference for you guys. I did this and for whatever reason, my truck has been fine since then. I’m debating getting the one piece driveshaft installed now as my truck has been riding great now for over a week. Maybe it’s temporary, who knows.
Just confirming: you are referring to the u-bolts that are at the bottom of the leaf springs? (in purple in this screenshot from the shop manual:

And did you tighten them in this pattern, or did you just go all the way to 98 in one go?

Thanks!

Curious if you are still going to get a one piece driveshaft. Did you get a chance to measure you pinion angle using the method in TSB 20-2277?

Yeah my vibration slowly started creeping back, so yeah I will on Friday. I will report back how it goes. The vibration is not as bad as it was before though.

The driveline shop I am going to said he's done one other Ranger and has said that the owner of that Ranger is very happy with the results and has completely vibration free now, so I have high hopes.

I did take a measurement a while back, but I don't remember what it read, I think i was close to 5.9 if I remember correctly.

It's interesting how the shudder will vary in intensity. I am anxiously awaiting your results of the one piece driveshaft. Do they already have it fabricated or are they doing the fab and install same day?

Well here's the weird thing, I have no shudder. My vibrations are highway induced. The REAL crazy thing is I used to have the shudder and it went away after playing around with the center carrier and u bolts. Then both the shudder and highway vibrations went away. Now the highway vibrations came back, but the shudder is not present at all. Smooth as silk at take off. Honestly, if I only had the take off shudder, I wouldn't care. I could deal with it. It's the highway vibrations thats killing me. You can see and hear things in my passenger seat moving. But like I said, I stopped having the take off shudder a while ago simply but messing around with the center carrier. I even took out the shims I had. It's back to stock, no shudder. I've had a lot of trucks throughout the years, this is by far the strangest to diagnose things on.

They're building it that day. The only thing they didn't have (Tom Woods didn't either and I have helped them track them down) were the flanges. I ordered them from Ford and will be providing them myself. I don't want them messing with my stock driveshaft in case I need to reinstall in case I ever need to go back for warranty work.

Crazy isn’t it, or rather frustrating.
Sounds like the driveshaft is out of balance. ??‍♂

FYI I have been working closely with Tom Woods on this, they would have had one out sooner but had issues with the flanges, they were going to have to make an adapter. Well I was able to track them down for them so they ordered 50 of them. They will now have these out any day now. The only reason I am going locally is because I like knowing I could always go back if I ever need anything addressed. My local shop provides lifetime warranty on their work and have been doing this for 25 years. If interested call Tom Woods and put yourself down for the one piece. Its coming out soon. Their work is top notch.

Is yours shudder or highway vibration? Have you tried adjusting center carrier and tightening u bolts? That helped mine tremendously.

Yeah, we’ve discussed this in a PM.
Like yours it disappeared then reappeared.
My vibes are around 85 and actually felt better today after I just installed an updated tune from Unleashed…..?

Sorry I have the memory of a fish sometimes. At least yours is at 85. Mine starts right at 70 and stays all the way to 80, which just happens to be my cruising speeds on the highway here :/

I don't have any driveline vibes at highway speeds, we have plenty of roads around here with ripples that do that for us. I have the take off shudder and have reduced it by removing the flat shims the dealership should have when they did the TSB. I have to re-check my pinion angle (last check was 4.7°) and get the correct angled shims.

Does anyone know if engine should be running while checking transmission fluid level? Shop manual is unclear.

I had mine in the shop three times for this. The Ford fix hasn't done squat for my shuddering problem. Maybe a class action suit would make them work a little harder at this.
I can't believe how much all of us are doing to rectify this issue. Why in the hell isn't Ford doing anything other than putting a TSB out that doesn't do much, if anything, to fix the issue. If you think about it, doesn't the driveshaft angle change when the load on the truck changes? Why would setting the driveshaft angle fix the problem when that angle is always changing? I guess I don't have enough brain matter to understand this. lol

It appears that the bronco does not have this problem. Maybe the next gen Ranger will have fixed it.
