this will be interesting
I hope you come back with good results....even bad results if you're willing to share failure.
Its been on many peoples mind whether a single shaft will eliminate the problem all together or just worsen it elsewhere.
the consensus has been Ford had to make a compromise.
I'm curious to see what happens.
It's been a viable solution for the Tacoma which has a very similar driveline configuration to the Ranger. With that I am cautiously optimistic about it resolving the problem with the Ranger as well, but only time will tell. If it is successful, hopefully the cost for it is not too prohibitive.

I will definitely post results. My only concern is that they’re making it 3 1/2” in diameter. Both my local driveline shop and Tom Woods are making them the same diameter. The reason I am concerned is because it seemed like the general consensus on this forum is that it needs to be at least 5” but I’m no expert so we’ll see.

I do not have a copy but the service manager I recently dealt with said they are the same except updated to include 2021 models.

update on having TSB applied-

had this done yesterday at the dealer. service mgr was involved in testing etc.. he was spot on about how it affected the vibes. the vibe is still there but now it's not coming from rear but rather center of truck and towards front. it's also barely noticeble now. i drove the truck on the highway and still all smooth. accelerating quickly versus slowly seems to have no effect on the severity of the vibes now as it did prior to the tsb. so i'd call this a win. they also ordered the clamp/lube to grease the slip spline. he thinks that may be causing the vibes that are left and also the thunk from a stop or coming to a stop. that thunk seems to be half as bad as it was as well. he told me becasue the angle is now in spec- 5-6 degrees that it's not binding like it was. fingers crossed that the lube fixes the rest. perhaps the front prop shaft has a similar issue? Anyhow, i am much more happier with the truck now with less vibes!!

Hey guys two things I did that helped me out with my highway vibrations, that so far has greatly improved my truck on the highway. First I loosened the carrier bolts and moved the carrier as far forward and to the left (towards drivers side) as much as possible, held it there and tightened the bolts. Second, I checked my u-bolts. They were all ridiculously loose. Torqued them down to about 90 ft/lbs. I don’t know if it was the u bolts or moving the center carrier, but my truck feels much better. I barely get vibration in my seat now. Feels like a new truck. We’ll see how long it lasts.

I am still going to get the custom driveshaft on Friday though. Don’t want to deal with this again. Just wanted to mention this. It’s an easy thing to check.

I have take off shudder as well. I'm just hanging on to it until i see more info about the fix. I don't want the dealership to fuck around and keep coming back. I don't have any patience.. lol. It's not that bad right now to bother me.

You mean the CrapoTaco has this same take off shudder?

How many miles do you have on your truck?

The torque spec for the u-bolts is 98 ft/lbs. Check out this area of the forum where you can find close to all of the factory manuals in pdf. https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/2019-ranger-technical-shop-manuals.1548/

The for sure fix is probably going to be a one piece driveshaft. I am getting mine installed on Friday. My take off shutter is almost non-existent, but what I was suffering with was constant highway vibrations after installing leveling kit.

The driveline shop I went to said he had another customer come in for the take off shutter and it was driving him crazy. After installing a one piece, all the problems went away.

I'm just afraid if i fixed the shudder then another issue will crop up. I love the truck as is right now to mess with it atm.

For those with highway vibrations, try checking your u-bolts and tightening them down to 98 ft/lbs. Let me if know this makes a difference for you guys. I did this and for whatever reason, my truck has been fine since then. I’m debating getting the one piece driveshaft installed now as my truck has been riding great now for over a week. Maybe it’s temporary, who knows.
