I remember when the "new 300zx came out in 1990 with the low swooping nose, I didn't like the look in picture at all but when I finally saw one in person I really liked it. IF they keep it around 35K it's a nice car or the price. Then again I generally don't buy foreign cars myself.

Looks alright to me.

The big question is how does it drive? Barring the GTR Nissan hasn't made an interesting car to drive in a couple of decades.

Always liked the Z, looks good to me too.
I was cross shopping with Mustang, Z , Genesis & chose the BRZ because
I wanted a light car with good handling.
Bonus, manual too!

I'm a huge fan of the new Z. I mean DAMN. It's a pretty car imo. With the 370z having been out for 27 years now, I'm glad Nissan is picking up the paint brush again.

Best Datsun ever made was the 510 sedan, After that they built the B210 and were so ashamed that they had to change their name! :giggle:
I had one of these (1974 710 coupe) in yellow. Super fun to drive. A little ugly from certain angles, tho...
I also had a 510 wagon (1981 with rectangular headlights). Great cars. The thing would go 45 mph in 1st (7500 rpm redline). A blast to drive.

Actually, I was referring to the (1968-1973)version of the 510 sedan . That and the 1200 sedan were both great cars. The B210 replaced the 1200, so when I went to buy the 1200 in 1973 I found the B210 to be unacceptable in style comfort, performance or reliability.
I bought the PL620 pickup instead, it too turned out to be a total POS, especially compared to its predecessor.
My PL620 went exactly 2 miles before it broke down the first time.
The dealer was incompetent and uncooperative for the entire 9 months I owned it.
That truck broke down more than ALL the cars I have owned since combined!
Wiring harness, body parts, door/window hardware, carburetor, the distributor kept snapplng points in two, even the seat tracks were defective, etc.
Regular maintenance was about twice as often and twice as difficult as its normal contemporaries.
PLUS...
.It rode like Drott carrydeck crane.
(it was kinda cute though!)

My brother had a sweet '71 510 in ice green with Recaros, sidedraft Webers and a Momo wheel. I owned a total of 4 240Z's during the late 70's early 80's. Great cars in their day, lightweight and torquey. I started a small business in my parent's garage tuning and rebuilding those motors, they were pretty bulletproof (the motors, not my parents).

I like that the new Z has the retro look of the original. I think, as with the Camaro and Mustang, the stylists were trying to recapture the magic of the original design. Price wise, I heard the new Z will sticker for 40k-ish.

The front end is styled after the original 240/60/80Z's and does a great job at it, it's instantly recognizable
The oldschool round lights don't work on the new body style. Nevermind the fact that somehow managed to concoct almond shape head lights, not round ones.

It pains me to say it, but GTR shaped headlights would have looked more appropriate on the body style.

I bet at moderate distance you asked a non-knowledge person what kind of car they were looking at they would probably say a Mazda. (don't get me started how the newest gen Miata just looks like a BMW clone)

I'd sell my Ranger in a heartbeat if I found a low mileage GTR at some sort of once in a life time low priced deal.

Sadly even ones in the $50k range are very high mileage or have been in accidents.
