Somewhat skeptical of VW concept cars ever coming to fruition. I got very excited when I heard they were coming out with a new bus about 10 years ago. I would buy one in a heartbeat just to relive my youth. My parents were pretty smart most of the time, but they let me take our '78 Champagne edition II bus to college. Little did they know you could fit 13 people in the sunroof or remove the middle seat and haul around a keg in an iced down trash can. Man I loved that thing. Didn't matter if it only did 0-60 in 30 seconds. Alas, they haven't actually done it yet, and I don't think they will, but the concept does look cool (for my wife to have)

I owned a '76 Scout II. 345 V8. In that low range, I could probably have pulled a house off its foundation.

i think i read some place the vw truck sold in over seas market is actually a ranger in vw clothes. maybe a scout would be a ford something or other and called a vw etc.

I had an older scout with a slant 4 and a three speed. Trans was weak but that thing would go anywhere slow. Rough and tough. I would hate to see it become a whimp vehicle.
