Heading to Colorado on a road trip, and wondering if premium - 91 or higher is readily available? I've got the Ford Performance tune so just curious if I should just go back to stock incase I have trouble finding premium. Any Colorado natives out there?

91 is everywhere

FYI. I70 is supposed to be 1 lane out by Rifle due to mudslides. And there is heavy smoke from CA everywhere out here.

How do you like the Ford Performance tune. Noticeable gains on the butt dyno after you flashed?

As stated 91 is everywhere. You'll see 93 as premium until somewhere in Nebraska, once you hit a high enough altitude 91 will take over as premium.
Something about the effective octane rating at altitude. Maybe the lower oxygen levels make knock less likely?

I installed the FPT about a mouth ago. I took a trip up to Flagstaff last weekend and the passing power, shifting and mileage were all improved. I filled up in Flag, averaged 32 MPG's coming home, usually 28 MPG (7000 to 4000 elevation change).

We had the worst air quality in the world over the weekend.

Definitely check Cotrip.gov for road closures, lots of them due to fires last year then rains this year and more due to construction.

50 through Gunnison is iffy due to construction. I70 near Glenwood Springs due to Fires and then Rains are the two really big ones.

They have been opening 50 while I70 is closed and vice versa.

And yes ... premium is available ... as well as Ethanol free if your willing to pay for it.

The highest octane fuel you might find in vast, high elevation areas may be 90, but it will be fine. The ambient air pressure will be compensated for by the engine computer and 90 octane will be more than enough.

Much of the non-local origin smoke in Northern states is from Canada. Smoke here in the PNW, mostly from Canad, is enough to block out the sun mostly, leaving an ugly dull orange cast on everything.

I was using the 87 octane i believe it was in Colorado last week. Spent the week in colorado springs. Octane goes up by 2 so 89 and 91 available. Very expensive, about 4 dollars a gallon. I used 87. Could barely see pikes peak because of the smoke. Happy trails, be safe. I had lots of fun. Thats the haze of the smoke in the photo background

California wildfire smoke has reached the east coast.
Had some pretty bad smoke days in NC a few weeks back when we were in a dry spell that wasn't knocking it all to the ground. Still a touch hazy here, but the daily rains are back and you can't actually smell it anymore.

Heck, we've got that crap all the way over in North Carolina. It's been hazy for the last several days.

Note: At least that's what our weather folks are saying the haze is, but they only have to be right like 20% of the time to keep their jobs. :)

Octane in most of Colorado is 85-87-91. Rarely is 89 available. Maybe out by the Kansas border.

Hopefully you were pumping midgrade, 87, and not 85 thinking it was 87.
