I hear the 5.0 mustangs are quicker with the 10 speed paddle shift than the 6 speed manual.

For me the joy of driving a stick started to fade after turning 40 LOL. Now I'd like one for a weekend/toy car but not for my daily driver.
I have a paddle shifter in my 2020 Mustang HPP Ecoboost and it just not immediately responsive, The 10 Speed auto is on point …

I’m about to ruffle some feathers with this one.

Autos now can shift better and quicker than all but the best. I used to believe I HAD to have a manual when my 4.0L 6sp TJ was my daily driver/weekend toy for 10 years, now with this truck plus trail control I’ll never go back and I’m not too proud to admit it. It’s 2021, the machine/computer can do it better than you.

It seems that some folks think that the 2.7 would be an improvement over the 2.3.
I loved the 2.7 at first sight, but I just don't see it being some big deal improvement.
In fact the 2.3 is simpler and more efficient, both in power and fuel consumption.
It is also shaking out to be at least as reliable.
The EcoBoost engines have pretty much proved the point that more cylinders just means more cylinders and little else.
Take a look at the limited gain that 50% more cylinders, twice the cams, and twice the turbos gets you! That's in stock tune! ...The difference approaches the vanishing point as the tuning brinksmanship increases.

This reminds me of 1953 when the OHV 223CID I-6 surpassed the flathead V8 in HP and performance.
Marketing resorted to lying about it but the secret soon revealed itself, marking the demise of the well developed and venerable flathead V8 and bringing in the era of the OHV Y-block for 1954.

Yeah that's right.... if you're drag racing, but a manual still reigns supreme when you approach turn 5 at Road America. (Or any winding country backroad)

If sales of the manual Bronco are down over the next year or two I can see them going back to just the auto on it too. Lets face it most now a day can't even drive a stick. ?

any idea how much weight the 2.7 would add over the 2.3? It might reduce the increase in straight line performance

There is always hope..... ? ?

A ST or GT, lowered a little (level) with a 2.7, and I'd trade for one today.

Youre not wrong, i would not take a manual in my ranger over this 10spd which absolutely amazing for this truck.
Makes that 2.3L really shine.

I will say that for racing i still prefer manual, especially on something like my bike. Knowing when to shift and when not to shift is huge when taking a turn as that momentum shift can cause a really bad day. Auto may be faster and more consistent, but nothing beats the feel of being manually in control.

Although im slightly biased, i grew up on dirtbikes and first manual car i drove was my dads '03 Mach 1 with a kenne bell on it. Nothin came close the whiplash of a 2nd gear pull.

I went to test drive a manual trans TJ Wrangler not too long ago.

The salesman handed me the keys and said to go enjoy myself because he had no clue how to drive manual and couldn't even pull it out of its parking space.
Millenial here. Every car I've owned up to my Ranger was manual.

The best story I have though is back when I had my TJ Wrangler (3-pedal) I was a pool manager and my one lifeguard decided she needed to move my truck. After watching her struggle for 5 minutes she came back as she saw me laughing my a#% off and exclaimed "Why does your truck have 3 pedals?"

and that, my friends, is the millenial you're speaking of
