[Updated] Ranger Ford Performance Power Pack Performance Tune Software (M-9603-REB) Released!

There are many more dealers that can't do the install than can. When they were still not available I was corresponding with FFP and they said whole things should take an hour. I did everything except push the install button so I could preserve the warranty. In the 20 it took to "flash" they put in the K/N and charged me $6.00 total.

So I realized that when I got home and after re-reading the instructions, I have no idea what they did to my truck. I had not read the stock tune and then downloaded the performance tune to the ProCal unit, so when I plug the unit in now to my computer it just downloaded the performance one to it.

Saddest part is that I could do this myself but just wanted it to be covered under warranty. Looks like they messed it up. Still waiting to hear back from FPP. I called them and they asked me to send the pics and video, which I did a few hours ago. Still waiting. I'm just being impatient because this is my first ever brand new vehicle and my dream truck, so I'm really upset about this entire ordeal.

48 pages... just curious if these tunes impact reliability/longevity to the point of concern for someone who wants to get more than 150k/10years out of the truck. Obviously its a new car and someone cant speak on this car specifically, but just wondering what the concensus is as far as tunes go based on past experiences.

I worry about the engines reliability WITHOUT this tune... These turbo 4 cylinder engines were first designed for the focus RS and ST for high compression and performance output. Ford dummed down the engine to take 87 which burns slower and honestly will not live as long as the engine was originally designed to at 91 octane. I plan on getting mind soon for peace of mind actually.

Nope I have 33 on my ranger and it’s no good only can go to 17 inch tires is the max for the tune

Actually yes you can. You have to manually go in and enter the revolutions per mile of your tire (you can look this up online) and enter that into the tuner.

I dont follow sorry, this is my first ford ever and not really a mechanic. My manual says to use 91+ octance, where im at its 92. Where does 87 octane come into play?

Some states have 87 octane as the lowest octane they provide. Well other than e85 ethanol which our trucks aren't designed to run on. I believe that the manual will tell you the lowest octane gas that your state provides.

Hey gang - damn 48 pages! That was a journey.
Anyways.. I ordered the FP tune pack from my dealer, and just picked it up today. I spoke to the service department about getting it installed, and the guy who does the tune setups said he can't install it because there's a TSB out right now about the tune needing a fix because it can cause the truck engine to randomly die (just turn off I guess). He said he has 3 customers waiting to install.

I haven't heard this at all in any of the threads about this tune. Has anyone else heard of this?

Last I had heard they made updates for towing but that was it.

I'm getting ready to register the product to me and set it up so all the dealer has to do is press install, but wanted to check here. Has anyone heard of any current issues or TSB out there for this tune?

The Ford dealer in Castle Rock did it for free, just stood next to me with an invoice while I pressed install. Really wakes up the truck for sure. Now if only Colorado had 93 octane....

The engine is also lower compression AND has a lower redline. Ford didn't just tell you that you can run lower octane gas, the engine is mechanically different from the RS/ST/Mustang motors.

Huh, I haven't heard any issue at all on these forums with FP tune causing engines to die randomly... I have had one on my truck for the past year, the FP tune specifically. The dealership I bought it from I was their first Ranger requesting that from them, they had their tech learn it and then install for me. Worked like a charm and they said if I had any issues just let them know. I installed it at 500 miles and now I am at 13k no problems. I also admit I drove it stupidly hard before breaking it in enough, but I installed this in 2020. My driving style is WOT when I can and at most stoplights I am pulling relatively hard almost like trying to run a 0-60 time. A lot of people will shake their head but I understand the consequences if anything were to happen. Just tossing out my driving style to show how much abuse the truck can handle. Best mod on the truck for me in my opinion.

I'm happy with it, no issues, really helped transmission strategy, I know others make more power but I wanted the tune with warranty coverage.

Sounds to me like you have the paperwork and receipt for this being dealer installed, and covered.

Now, if you were just to help "reset" it to proper function. You paid for it and shouldn't have to, but sometimes just correcting might be easier than the hassle of dealing with the stealership.

This is why I went with the Livernois tune. I wanted someone I could reach out to if I had questions or problems and their customer service has been exceptional. When I talked to my dealer about the Ford performance tune they were clueless so that sealed the deal with me choosing Livernois.

Since Livernois did the tune for Ford anyway, and provided them their programming box I'm not overly concerned about any issues.
