I would rather have that deep blue state scenario than what we have here in KY. We are a red state and have whats called a personal property tax. 1 1/2% of the value of your car, boat, RV etc. every year! They do depreciate the value yearly but of course that goes down very slow. So on my ranger Im paying $350 this year + $25 for the registration on top of that, and my boat is $750 annually as well. So I would be glad to take Ohios fee schedule, or the blue state plan anytime!!
Your state's tax code was written decades ago. It has nothing to do with red or blue.

Colorado was red when I moved here 30 years ago, swung purple, now blue. Tax code has remained the same. We tax and register our vehicles the same here.

When you consider the way Hawaii's State and local governments have neglected the roads in Honolulu (they'd make a 3rd world country highway engineer cringe) and the amount we pay in road and fuel taxes, the 50th state is not far off from California's situation.

My lowly 2002 Honda CR-V, which weighs in at 3200 pounds costs $360 to register yearly, my heavier 2020 Ranger approaches almost $500. I re-fueled the Honda last night, a gallon of 87 octane was $4.22.

Honolulu's roads are riddled with so much potholes that many motorists drive like a NASCAR driver warming up his tires, zigging and zagging about.

I am convinced the politicians here travel on magic carpets...

Remember blue state politicians don't want average people to be able to afford gas. They want light rail an high speed trains, for us. They're wealthy for the most part an can afford to continue to live well in a Democratic socialist society. capitalism has made those tech billionaires wealthy beyond belief but they push for socialism for everyone else.
Hawaii is a blue state, google "HART" for the island of Oahu.

It's a light rail project which started construction in 2011, supposed to run a whopping 20 miles, is now supposed to be completed in 2026, and so far, has cost 11 billion dollars.

It is the poster child for government waste and corruption for the entire planet.

Holy hell! I would have built the whole thing for only 10 billion! (Just don't audit my spending afterwards though.... ;) )

Our homeless don't need to live like 1850 either.
No they don't need to, they choose to.

The working people of society don't need to support the homeless, and many don't choose to support the homeless, but we are all forced to through socialist programs of government.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I grew up in So Cal and lived there until I was 26, and I still have friends and family out there. Love the State, just not the government.

California is part of my US of A, so I do care ...a lot! I'm saddened by what I see going on there and a couple other states I won't mention. And yeah, I'm a little scared that some of the state's elected officials will pass that on to others.

I'm sure you know all about Californian's (long-time residents and business) leaving the state and moving to other states like Texas. I actually welcome Californian's who come here and assimilate, just don't' California my Texas!

If you live there and you're OK with it, then great. Keep on paying $5 for premium and I'll think of you and won't be jealous when I'm filling up at $3.
This x1000! I've spent a long time living in Southern California, and I can't wait to find a job opportunity with my company in a state with a lower cost of living. Raising a family in SoCal is almost impossible these days.

votes have been tallied it's unanimous... nobody likes commiefornia or the dirty hippies trying to push thier belief that commiefornia is a nice place. now how do we move ahead to the next step and push that state into the ocean? any ideas? HIEL PELOSI!!!

Is there any way to just push the ridiculous politicians from that state and the gross "woke" elites in the ocean without pushing the state. We kinda need their produce.

that's a lot of california causing cancer. ever wonder why those labels aren't on food products when some ingredients are known to really cause cancer and not "may" case cancer?
