I'm trying to retire too but this site doesn't help and now getting a Bronco will be another money pit. I'm just glad the building boom is now because I can now work less and make more.Yep, I love the dry desert heat. Make a killing with work? Man, quit trying to kill me - I’m trying to retire!
I had a look at the satellite images for the west valley - wow, lots of new development. They’ll be clear to the nuclear power plant in no time. When I do come back, I’m gonna sit back, eat lots of good Mexican food, and drink my share of Tequila and local craft beer…and then I’m going to take it easy. The best Mexican food is not in Mexico, it’s in AZ, but then again, it used to be Mexico, so it makes sense.
Wow, that’s up there too! Hang in thereIt’s 103 F right now going to 105+ for the next few days.
Where are you in MD?Yep it’s HOT!
96 tomorrow and 97 wed with very high humidity. My air compressor in my shop died yesterday I believe of heat stroke. My pressure washer that I bought last year ate a pump just now trying to wash the ranger. The heat is taking its toll.
Damn I'm jealous. We won't see those numbers until December.Currently 71 degrees.![]()
We're in a bit of a cool wave now. We should be in 90's. I hesitated posting as I didn't want to rub it in.Damn I'm jealous. We won't see those numbers until December.

Bill, I lived in Kelowna for a year - moved there from Vancouver - great winters (Silver Star, Big White), bloody hot summers. I was a pro-level mountain bike racer at the time and trying to train in that heat was almost impossible - would get up to ride at 6:00 am while it was only about 20° C. Racing was worse - started at noon. It’s great for producing grapes and gets cold enough to make awesome Icewine but man, it sure isn’t kind to humans and other living creature. Stay hydrated - wine doesn’t count - okay, it does. ?It’s 103 F right now going to 105+ for the next few days.
I joke about it but I really do hate being cold so I deal with the 3 months of hell here. Some winters here can get pretty cold, into the upper 20's at night and low 50's for the highs. Still better than living back east though. We're actually getting an unusual cool spell this week. I know 102 doesn't sound cool to most but trust me it's like a cold front compared to last weeks 116.We're in a bit of a cool wave now. We should be in 90's. We'll be back to hot soon. And when your 71 degree winter days come back you can make me jealous.
He’ll be fine - Bill’s in one of Canada’s best wine regions - the Okanagan Valley - it’s a bit like parts of California wine country but guys like Bill (@Okanagan Winemaker ) are making big reds that are making folks in Napa look over their shoulder now and then.Wow, that’s up there too! Hang in there
When I was younger I would've preferred cold over hot. I used to say, "you can always put more clothes on."I joke about it but I really do hate being cold so I deal with the 3 months of hell here. Same here. I played hockey and snowmobiled out in the cold all the time and it never bothered me. It was -20 in Eagle Lake ME every February when we'd go up there snowmobiling and single digits for the high. I think I was in my mid 40's when I started hating being cold more and more every year. Here I wear shorts 365 and the dry heat is great for any aches and pains too. When I was younger I would've preferred cold over hot. I used to say, "you can always put more clothes on."
I'm steadily moving the other direction as I age.
