Powered by a 500 cubic-inch engine, this Caddy is an amazing mix post-war style and the vision from the minds of some of the best customizers eve

1933 Ford 'Eliminator' Coupe

The MTV generation will recognize this car from various music videos and album covers.

1932 Highboy Ford

Billy described this car as a go-kart on steriods, and we can't think of any better way of putting it.

1962 Chevrolet 'Slampala' Impala

Slammed is definitely the most notable characteristic of this Impala on air-ride suspension.

1958 Ford 'Mexican Blackbird' Thunderbird

Named after a ZZ Top song of the same title, Pete Chapouris of SoCal Speed Shop oversaw this highly custom project.

1933 Ford 'Wiskeyrunner' Coupe

This is a perfect hot rod build tha thas gone through a few different stages, one with an exposed metal exterior.

1936 Ford Truck Rat Rod

This rat rod hot rod is powered by a 1953 Ford flathead engine, which is paired with a S-10 transmission.

1950 Ford 'Kopperhed' Business Coupe

Billy named this car after the black and copper color. It's a 1950 five-window that was transformed into a three-window.

Sporting a chrome screaming skull on the grille, this three-window has an extra cool paint job.

Nice...one of my favorite guitarists. When you look up "cool" in the dictionary it show's Billy Gibbon's picture
I saw them many times back in the 80's. What a great guitarist and they put on a great show.

With Billy's cars, it the little details that are cool. Here's a couple more photo's of the skull coming out of the grill on his '36 Ford. The raw, "it beat it's way out of there" look is slick.

Hmmmmm, shades of the movie Alien. Very cool indeed.

Of course, the Eliminator is legend - maybe that’s why they’re on my Road Music playlist.

Saw them several times in the 80s and again about 4 yrs back at the Telluride blues n brews festival, they still sounded good, esp the guitar playing, I spoke with their sound guy and he said they use electronics to help out with the vocals, ran into a guy who played behind them on the golf course and said they were hackers but really good guys.
But the band members - all original have been together longer than any successful rock act, Gibbons was asked why I think by Dan Rather in the "Big Interview" and his response was simple - same 3 cords, same 3 guys.

Saw them once in the mid-80's and once more recently in a pre-race show at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte. If you watch and listen closely you will find that Dusty Hill and Frank Beard are vastly underrated musicians.

One of the highlights of my weekends at my old man's was access to his collection of Hot Rod magazines. If we weren't building, showing, or racing cars I was reading them. Most of Gibbon's cars were centerfolds at one point.

Cadzilla was my old man's favorite, he was a perfectionist with paint and body, the details in Cadzilla's extensive body work appealed to him.

I was always into that '32 HighBoy though. Clean and simple perfection.

I think out of Gibbon's newer stuff we would both agree on Kopperhed if my old man were still around. Lot's of custom body details that are clean enough to almost look factory. And shoeboxes have always been one of my favorites.

Also, thanks for the reminder to start a ZZ Top station on Pandora.
