I'm pretty sure you missed the point
I'm full aware of what point he was trying to make that it doesn't take all that much area to power the whole US. Even it that were true it would never work. You'd have to these areas all over the US or getting it there would be way to costly from one area. Now factor in that AZ gets 300+ days of sunshine/year and not many other states do. Heat is a big factor as you don't get as much production from a panel on hot days. For my house April and May are the top producing months. You'd need double or triple the land in the PNW or NE for these "solar farms". Florida wouldn't work so well as there's to many hurricanes and tornados. The N'East, I've lived there where you don't see the sun for weeks. Sure there would be storage but we haven't even perfected that for rooftop solar yet.

After that all panels degrade over time so take that into account and you need to add even more to keep that areas grid going. What happens when an area sees a massive building boom like we're having here? I'm not talking a couple thousand people but my city alone has almost doubled in the 6 years I've lived here to 80,000+. It's not so easy as with Nuke to just fire up up and produce more power when you need it.

Takes you that long to drive that????
;)
My personal record is 18 hours to Ft. Lauderdale. Ft. Myers takes a bit longer.

The overall population doesn't drive more than a few miles a day.
Doesn’t matter. They want the security and convenience of a quick full range fill up.

Until I could drive to the next major city and see charging stations widespread, hell no. Next town with a charging station is a 6 hr drive. No extension cord long enough for me to leave the state

I recently watched a video where the math was worked out on the theory the country went to all electric for new production by 2035 and what kind of power would be required to supply the electrical grid. It would require the addition of a nuclear power plant being built every few weeks
wireless charging technology..when that gets rolled out it will be a game changer.

I had no idea this would be a thread about EV lol. Y’all should watch his videos. It’s more about engineering and production than EVs.

Still need electricity to power that. Lots of it.

And Europe has fewer cars by population than the US.

It's okay, you can keep buying our Canadian electricity. We have two massive dams that feed mostly the US. Plus the coal burning powerplants...
