It'll get a lot better too once you put more miles on it and it breaks in. I really enjoy driving this truck and taking it on long drives opposed to my Tacoma which was horrible. On our trip last year to UT I averaged 23.7 in the 1300 miles we did. There was a lot of steep elevation changes especially when we were going up to Bryce Canyon. There's also some off roading mixed into that too. I have a size larger tires and a 2.5" level so I still think it was decent mileage for that trip.

I am always making excuses to drive my truck. Its so comfortable and so capable. Where i live we get a lot of rain and I have no hesitation to hop in the truck and still run my errands.

I agree with you. I know it’s not what our truck can get. Just me playing around.
I hear you and I get it. I wasn’t trying to correct you at all. Hopefully it didn’t come out that way.

I am super duper happy with what I get from the ranger. My Wrangler of 8 years averaged 16 mpg and I loved every mile in that beast rolling on 35’s and 2.5” lift. So getting 20 mpg is almost like hitting at the casino.

I drove an average of 4 mph over whatever speed limit was. So never above 80mpg and was getting 19.8mpg

I use Fuelly for the record.

That app looks legit. I'm going to download it and start tracking my trips. I'm happy with anything over 20. I use to drive a 5.7l Tundra and you could almost see the fuel guage drop as you are driving it. I would get under 15 on the freeway. It was definitely a money pit!

I calibrated my MPGs an when I fill up hand calculated an the display are within .3 of each other.. I filled up an jumped on the highway an set the cruise at 65 an when I got where I was going, 44 miles away, I was showing 30 mpgs. I drove home slightly faster at 67ish an it dropped to 27.

I helped my kid move over the holiday weekend an did 2 tanks in one day an cruising at 80 mph I avg'd 19 with the cover off.
Not bad considering you were going over 80! I would drive 65 all day if the speed limit was around 65. Most the speed limits where I drive in Texas are 75 so i'm typically not driving very fuel efficiently.

I agree. The MPG on our Ranger is too good to be true. Back when i had my 2020 Ranger i drove 4 hours and got over 26 mpg. That was off my calculations at the pump. I anticpate having worse MPG now since i have a FX4 and a bug deflector lol.

The Fuelly app is a great way to track your mileage and service records and know if your trucks dash mileage if correct. You can also add it to your signature and it'll update every time you add another fill up. To add it to your sig you have to go to the fully website, click on your vehicle, on the lower right is a box that says share your MPG view all badges and stuff. There will be a code you can copy and paste into your signature.

Haven't reset mine since 56 miles. It says 18.1 mpg. That's it. Started going up when I put street tires on and removed the General all-terrain tires, but... that's it.

That's badass. Thanks for the information. I already downloaded it. I'll figure it out in the morning. I usually just do the fuel math at the pump and dont track it, but i love numbers so this will definetly be right up my alley.

Lol I do too. I'm OCD and I cant stand when the numbers are off on the dash to my hand calculation. If you find your dash is off too you can correct it by following the first post in this thread. Mine was off about 1.5 mpg and after doing this it's dead on now. It does take about 5-7 tanks to fully correct itself.

I travel between Phoenix and San Diego on a regular basis. If I drive at 75ish I average about 30 MPG for first 200 miles or so, as I come upon the Cuyamaca mountains it drops as I climb to 4,000 feet. Overall 26.7 MPG for nearly 400 miles. Have done this drive 12 times so far, that is the usual number.

Im at approximately 4000 miles and I reset at the first oil change at 3000. I’m getting 23.1 overall since then. I’ve been able to get just over 28 on a 50+ mile trip with mixed back road and highway driving in north Georgia.

The question I always have to ask myself is, do I want to behave today and get rockstar mileage or do I want the driving and acceleration thrills. For some reason ends up being thrills in the end… ?

Uh huh ................. And I wish it would stop. I'm right off I-35 E south of Waxahachie where that F2 tornado tipped over the semis several weeks ago. Still cleaning up the aftermath. Our business still has no electricity.
