Tricks for unlimited MPG.....
Put it in neutral and get the kids to push.....:like:
For you northerners......head south....since your going "down", put it in neutral and coast.....:giggle:
For mountain areas, get someone to tow or push you to the top, and put it in neutral and coast down.....

While I don't get help getting to the top, I do put it in neutral on some long downhills sometimes. Several of them on my commute.
BTW, Fishersville is not too far from me.

Been thru your area many times....we'll make a day of it, 250 over to 29, up 29 to 33, across 33 to Elkton, stop at Hank's BBQ, and 340 south to home.
MPG....who cares....having a good time !!!

You should stop at Old 33 Beer & Burgers in Elkton. Awesome burgers! Then go down the road to the brewery.

My 2 cents, 3.73's are just too tall for the 10 speed. I just did 4.46 with 33's and it drives so much better even in 10th. All the low rpm lugging is gone.

Meanwhile I’m over here working on a tune that makes my truck take off in second gear ?

It's kinda funny, they are right next door to McDonald's, yet they are always busy. Plus you can log into McD's free wifi while you're there.

To lock gears out do you have to be in haul or sport mode?
No, just push the down arrow button on the shifter when in D.
Push once and it brings up the gear display on the dash, again and it goes to 9, again and it goes to 8, etc. Doesn't change the shifting but only allows the transmission to go to the highest gear displayed.
If you use the shifter button in Sport mode then it's full manual shifting.
There is a steep hill almost two miles long coming into my town on my way home from work and every day I push the down button 7 times to get to 4th gear and just coast down the hill without touching the brakes. 69k and still have the original front brakes, which around these parts is unheard of.

Just to be clear in my brain, locking out gears does nothing to change shift points, right? It just keeps you from shifting into the higher gears.

Technically correct but that is questionable over time. Does it change the programming ? seemed like it doesn't change the lower shift points but for example locking out 9 and 10 will make it rev a little higher in 8 at 30 mph... ive only really experimented at low speeds myself, what does anyone else think?

On mine, when locking out 9 and 10, I don't really see a change in shift points.

It just stops at 8.

Stock program. No tune loaded.

Tow mode and Sport mode definitely change the shift points.

I wouldn't know mine never shifts into 8th at 30 mph. And of course it will Rev higher in 8th it is all its got with 9th and 10th locked out.
