I have a 2006 Miata and it's a simple mechanical release knob. Just saying, I'd rather keep people out of the fuel neck altogether, not really about the fuel loss as much as a $700-800 bill(according to the dealer) to replace the neck when some idiot damages it.Long ago when I filled up the truck for the first time and had a spill over due to a bad pump nozzle, I noticed that there are no electrical wires running up to the fuel fill door when trying to diagnose the problem. There is no locking mechanism. I called the fuel station and they already knew the pump nozzle was a problem...
