Wouldn't a proper fuel cell have ventilation?
yes they should. but the diesel fuel cells are not vented enough for gas use. most of the diesel tanks ive seen on farm trucks and ag stuff have something like this.

the problem is hot gasoline actually changes in volume and the amount of space used in the tank. so in really hot weather your tank will be more full vs. really cold weather it be less full no matter if you added or removed gas. so the tank structure needs to be much stronger and have more venting in a gas setup. diesel can also expand but not like what gasoline does. basically saying the gasoline makes higher stress on tank due to expansion so tougher tank needed and extra ventilation.
in my mind this makes perfect sense lol im not explaining it well. https://www.consumerwatchdog.org/resources/DPReportHotFuelUSAJune07.pdf

I am headed to Rainier NP in May but first stopping for 3 days at Olympic NP. Should be awesome.
Olympic should be awesome in May - lots of great places to overland (north side of Lake Quinault, out along the road to the Hoh Rainforest). If you can spare the time, check out Cape Flattery - well worth the hike out to the point, plus you can support the Makah.

If these are safe for boats I don’t know why they wouldn’t work in a truck. Might be kinda slow to fill your tank though even with an electric pump.

Have you even ever been to the US? I rather suspect not, or if you have, you've only spoken with a narrow percentage of the population that uses metric standard in a professional capacity, and not with the general public, who use the imperial system on a day-to-day basis.

In any case, I'm done repeating myself ad nauseum re: the general populace, when you insist on trying to extrapolate from a statistically insignificant minority to represent the whole.

Here, I've found listings for vegetable farms for you in the US, so that you can grow as many tomatoes as you like while maybe learning a thing or two about the general American public: https://www.landandfarm.com/search/Vegetable-Farm-for-sale/
As I said earlier, fence and poles.

Standard is metric, customary units are derived from the standard and Imperial units are used in UK (and formerly in Canada). US ditched the Imperial system way before Canada did and has not used it in over a century.

General US population does not give rats ass about the standard, how the Canadians convert their numbers and are happy with their customary units.

P.S. I already have a vegetable farm, but I've found site for supplying one should you wish to start one https://southernflamefarm.com/

The Ranger is completely overlooked in the fact it needs a larger tank, you can get massive 60 gallon OEM replacement tanks for the F-series gas and diesel. But ask them if they will do tanks for the Ranger and their heads explode. I want a 25 gallon tank that's big enough for me.

So all the big "diesel only" in bed fuel tanks for sale... can they really not handle the chemicals of gasoline, or is it more of a federal government nanny state thing because "diesel is not as combustible"?

Also from my understanding, and my numbers may be slightly off, I can transport up to 139 gallons of gas without permits or placards?

What is stopping me from buying a 50 gallon (300lb) in bed fuel cell and using gasoline in it?
I added a 40 gallon in my diesel truck, there are DOT approved that are "required" to be legally plumbed into the vehicle. Non DOT are only supposed to be used for refueling tractors etc. I am currently adding a fuel cell (13 gallon ) that will pump into my tank, and will be vented to the tank as well to keep the evap system functioning. Will be mounted in a tool box behind the cab, details to follow when I complete.

I'll be fine with a 5 gall steel Wavian can. I tested range in my Subaru Outback, which when totally loaded for off grid camping got the same mileage as my Ranger loaded for camping. Took this through the most remote areas of SE Oregon desert, where towns and gas stations are very few and far between.

Lets say you get a miserable 15 mpg average, over 18 gall tank plus 5 in the Wavian Jerry can, you've got 345 miles to play with. Not too many routes in the US where that will get you stranded.

You'll have to plan an 'exit' to civilization at some point, I suppose you could drive circles within the badlands until you run out of gas. Sure, a 700 mile range would be all the padding you'd ever need, but at a great expense - both the custom tank and the weight of all that gas eating into your cargo capacity.

All that said, like many of you I would've preferred a 22 - 25 gal tank.

I’ll check that out. I have the white nozzle that came with the truck. Haven’t used it yet but wondering if it’s a pain in the ass to use. If this works with the capless design then I may pick one up.
It's easy to use, and they sell them at Menards. I keep mine in a zip lock bag in the truck so if I gotta use it on the road I can seal that stinky gas in it for a while, it gives me headaches. I also keep a spare in the garage.
