Been there done that. Thankfully not quite as bad in my case, but at least it's just a truck.Yeah, uh…about that... No car, just a yellow pole cemented into the ground:

Coming from the main road onto a street in a commercial center that bypasses some of the traffic I face on the commute home. It’s this weird S-turn swerve, and I just clipped the bollard. Front end missed it completely, but it knocked the mirror, scraped against the rear door, pushed into the bed, and caught on the rear wheel, dislocating the rear axle.
If I had a good pair of rock sliders, they’d have caught the brunt of the impact, and I’d have driven off with only the broken mirror.
If I had better shocks, the truck would’ve been more controlled through the maneuver, and likely avoided impact all together.
If I hadn’t been coming off yet another 12 hour shift, after yet another night of constantly tending to my toddler’s nighttime wakings and putting her back to bed, I wouldn’t have been as tired as I was and not have misjudged the entry.
…At least these are the things I’m trying to sell to my better half.
You're safe and in one piece to go home to take care of the toddler. And at least it gets better. As sick as it is, you even miss them being that age eventually.
