Hey fellow Deeetroiter!

I was out playing in the snow last night also. Advanced Trac off and the donuts were just fine.

As a side note, and this probably could use a separate thread. Pulled into an unplowed parking lot with 6" or more snow. Others had already been there and kicked up some berms. Stopped the truck and left it in 2WD and turned Traction Control and Advanced Trac off with a long press on the button until I got confirmation. The truck would not move forward or backward. I put it n 4WD High and took off. I tried 2WD with the axle locked and it was not as good as the 4WD. Tried 4WD Lo and did some impressive 4 wheel drifts and donuts. Turned Advanced Trac back on and what a spoiler of fun that is.

4WD with the axle locked this thing is like a tank....
My God...I'm old. I just want to go buy donuts and beer. I have 2 petals....go and stop.

I feel a mod coming on... Adding a switch on my dash that has a red flip cover with ā€˜fun mode’ printed on it. Now you can kill the connection to fuse 25 with the lift and flick of a switch! Let the good times ā€˜roll’ ?
I’d like to see how this turns out. I do not like having to ā€œplanā€ my snow fun in advance.

When I turn the traction control off (first push of button), then turn off the Advance Trac (push and hold button), fishtailing and donuts in loose dirt are no problem. I get no interference from the control systems.
In my '17 F-150 XL work truck, if you press the button twice very quickly, it goes into "AdvanceTrac Sport Mode" which pretty much lets the tires spin as much as you want as long as you're going in a straight line. If you start to wander more than a few degrees left or right, the traction control kicks back in. Maybe it's something that can be activated for Rangers in Forscan.

I just got to break in the 4wd system on my Ranger this past week as we got our first snow fall. I can say with 100% confidence that you hold the traction off button for 5-10 seconds (didn't time it sorry) and you will get absolutely no form of traction control or stability control whatsoever. It was a lot of fun ? However now that I think about it, were you in a terrain management mode? When I did it I was in normal mode.

Sorry Jesse, you probably didn't get it sideways enough. A quick press of the button turns off traction control but not stability control. A long press supposedly turns off both, but if you get sideways enough, the truck will still reel you back in unfortunately. If you lock the diff, then everything will be completely off until a wheel speed of 25 mph. At that point, the truck will un-lock the diff and start reeling you back in. I haven't tried it, but it looks like pulling the fuse is the only way to get the system to never intervene under any circumstance.

No, it definitely got sideways enough lol. I got it to the point of no return more than once

Well I've got the 2020 model stx and stability does kick in hard once drifting to about a 30 degree angle or so.... That's short press plus long press. Doesn't matter on mine. That's in 2 wheel drive though. Haven't tried to drift that aggressively in 4 wheel drive. And I'm talking aggressive 40 mph power slide in 2 wheel, it definitely kicks in. And we get plenty of snow here in idaho as well.

If you're in a low enough traction situation, stability control can only do so much. It's definitely possible to go over the point of no return. But my point is that I'm sure it still kicked in, you might just not have noticed the small yellow light flashing and ABS motor whirring.

It's possible it kicked in and I didn't notice I suppose, but i'm pretty good about noticing lights flashing (I've owned Chevys for the last 15 years lol), which I didn't. If we ever get snow again I will take a video of me doing it.

Ok. I'm thinking they added more "safety" to the stability control function on the 2020 model.
Mine will let me do about half a donut before kicking in pretty darn good. That's short press and long press combined, doesn't matter lol
