While I agree its nice to have some sort of work around for slow snow donuts, If I want to get the back end to step out a bit while taking some gravel or fire roads I should be able to do that. Turning TC and AT off essentially doesnt nothing because it kicks back in as soon as the rear starts to move. If I turn it off I want it to stay off. Do tuners have any options for controlling this sort of thing?

I do think tuners can fix this, I've seen quite a few that will take the TC limiter off.

I understand that they are not the same, but we're talking about just snow hooning in an empty parking lot here...

I guess I don't quite understand what you're trying to do lol unless you're going from some Formula Drift moves, the locked diff provides all the donuts and drifts I want in low traction conditions. A woosh of throttle in 2nd gear to initiate the slide and ample counter steer with careful throttle modulation gives you very predictable oversteer conditions.

I'm trying to hoon everywhere ahah I used to work at a snow service so I had plenty of time and experience maneuvering through snowy streets and would like to have the pleasure of doing so again.

around these parts, that kind of driving behavior gets you a stunting ticket at minimum.

I too like to goof off, but as I age and the cops get less forgiving with bad driving habits, I am slowly turning into a grandpa on the street, I keep all that behavior in off road settings
It only gets you a ticket if you get caught. haha But that being said, I'm on your side of keeping that kind of activity off the roads.

You're better off moving up to the UP man. Good luck trying to be able to consistently hoon on the streets in SE Michigan haha. It's not like we get THAT much snow here anyways throughout the winter.

As someone who grew up in the UP, I can confirm that there is much more snow and much less cops.

Haha I think we can agree that while many people may not ever even turn TC off the entire life of the truck, there are some who would like to do so. And SHOULD be able to do so. Having TC turn on automatically after turning them off is some nannying stuff Im not interested in.

I did a nice 60ft ish burnout the other day. Flew through gears 1-4 in a matter of 5 seconds. Never had any traction control stuff bother me. This was with the long press of the TC button and in normal drive mode without the diff locked. It was a hoot.

maybe my system is just faulty? not sure, Im talking to Unleashed Tunes right now and may do some trial and error for the TC being completely disabled. I couldnt burn out if I tried with how my truck responds.

5 times a winter is enough for me, any drifting that doesn't tear up tires and my engine is valuable to me ahah

Hummm, I do know that the stability control is very aggressive in normal mode and is even aggressive with just TC off. For example when going fairly quickly up a snow covered road that is twisty and making a turn that causes the truck to slide through the turn it will keep the truck in line by braking each wheel individually until you either stop sliding or you slow down enough to keep the pitch and roll of the truck level. The roll stability is most likely also playing a part in the control of traction when trying to whip it into a doughnut. Only time I have 100% wheel spin to the rev limiter is in 4low it turns off all the controls unless you engage trail control.

Hi Folks,

Okay...another Back Story.... We had just introduced AntiLoc Brakes into the Ranger and the idea was to take it to the next level called Interactive Vehicle Dynamics (IVD)... So my engineers were in Steamboat Springs Colorado at a Skid School, using the opportunity in the cold of winter to use this ice skidpad. I got a call from one of my engineers that they rolled the prototype Ranger on its roof! First word from me was "is everyone okay". The answer was yes...it was a "tommy tipover" soft roll. The engineers were trying to calibrate how to apply the brakes individually to maintain vehicle stability. So the driver threw the vehicle into a tail out skid and the engineer in the passenger seat shouted...Wait, the computer is reinitializing....$hit...the Ranger hit the snow bank around the outside of the skidpad and did a soft flip over the snow mound. Now we knew the software was in developmnet and we took the experience to understand what caused the reint. The takeaway is to be very careful when playing the drifting game on parking lots and roads. Parking lots have light poles and roads have other cars...

I feel like the stability control shutting down power in what would be a controlled slide will cause a roll over... I understand most people don't utilize, appreciate, or get to the point of controlled slides, but for those who do, loss of controlling the power of the truck is pretty terrifying to say the least.

I also understand safety features are necessary but its just disappointing to me ahah
