Ok. I'm thinking they added more "safety" to the stability control function on the 2020 model.
Mine will let me do about half a donut before kicking in pretty darn good. That's short press and long press combined, doesn't matter lol
The difference I find is you can’t use instinct and steer into the skid or the truck will full send the breaks on the outside and end the fun entirely. I also have a 2019 and it only works if you go against your instinct to control the movement.

I used to love doing this kind of stuff. I have a friend who had an older model ranger back when they were new. Had a buyer coming out the next morning so we took it out for one last hurrah and wouldn’t you know the truck ended up rolling that night and was totaled. Lost my urge to do donuts after that ?

When mine is off, it doesn't interfere at all. Lock to Lock, mud, sand, grass or snow, doesn't change anything.
