if I ever remove the tape I will do it after car sitting in the sun with windows rolled up. I doubt the paint will pull up.

In my Frontier there was space under the dash tray, I kept it there out of site.

I have the portable version of SunPass which uses suction cups so when needed it goes just to the right of the screening.

On my windshield, the black dots are inside the glass, not on the surface. Stick you fingernail on there and give it a try.

fun fact the black dots are baked ceramic paint and called frit. this might come handy at trivia night in the future.
And what is the purpose of said dots?

My solution is even simpler -- when we're going to go through a toll gate, wife holds the box up to the windshield!! Works every time.. (we don't use it very often, so it lives in the glovebox).. oh, if I'm alone, I just lay it on the dash...

Are they embedded in the surface of the glass? I can’t feel any edge with my fingernails.

Never mind. Found some descriptions on Wikipedia and elsewhere. Melted into the surface of the glass. Very cool. Not going to peel off of the glass when I remove the EZ-Pass adhesive.

Hey, everybody, thanks for this informative thread. I have used EZPASS in previous vehicles (I hate to slow down on the highway once I get up to speed) but was wondering about this very point. Where to put the thing? I had ruled out the painted section, thinking that it was something metallic that would interfere with the signals. Once the pandemic lifts and we start traveling again, this is first on my list. Thanks again!
