If you find that your exhaust is way to loud after the DP install. I found by trial and error the perfect resonator to install. After trying out Vibrant, MBRP 22", Magnaflow 16", Jones resonators. They all failed to reduce resonation and lower DB by much. All of them are a straight thru design with packing. None of them really had any worth while effect. So I took a chance remembering a company here in Michigan that had a resonator specifically designed for 4 and 6 cylinder engines.
I installed there largest 3" resonator and could not be more pleased with the results. It eliminated all drone and cut back 50% on noise. Its almost a bit to quiet now. Its still a straight thru design. But has 3 chambers that are slightly tilted. I feel no loss of power. Its stainless steel and the new build quality is very good.

Just wanted to pass the info along. They make a few sizes. None are drop in. So order as needed and fabricate it into the mid pipe.

ZZperformance is the car shop that custom makes them. I used the 3" 3800 ( made for a pontiac 3800 engine )

Thanks for the link. I have seen some listed on ebay.

From ZZperformance about the resonator:

It took us years to develop a better solution to drone, but we did it! There is no comparison between our downpipe and the Vibrant or Magnaflow versions you see. This is not a straight through design like our "competition" hense our solution to less drone.

For years we have spent a lot of time trying to come up with a way to reduce droning in aftermarket exhaust systems. We at ZZPerformance began our performance quest with the Supercharged 3800 engine and with everything on the market the car would remain obnoxiously loud with an annoying droning sound while cruising. We've tried every kind of resonator from Magnaflows, vibrant, etc. still could not reduce the drone enough to satisfy most customers needs so we had to go out and design our own. We originally hand crafted and welded our own whisper resonator that did the job well but would fail after time. All of the downpipes currently on the market are a straight thru design which does quiet it down a little but doesn't do much for getting rid of drone. It took us many years of testing to come out with a unit that truly reduces the drone while also providing a nice sound. Your exhaust system will still sound mean when you are on the throttle but provides a much less annoying sound while just cruising. The sound will not be eliminated. Results vary based on the setup. If you have a very loud muffler it will help but won't totally eliminate it. Regardless, it will make a quite noticeable difference. We have had many V8 guys, Honda guys, ford guys, etc try these out and love them. Can also be used as mufflers. Truly a must have for all the guys out there who opted to purchase a cheap China catback exhaust system on eBay that is obnoxiously loud. This added to those systems will make it sound much better!

Great information Keith and thanks for sharing. I have been leaning against the downpipe also because of too much noise. Will look into that.

I just added a downpipe w\cat to my Borla setup and i've been trying to decide if I should add another resonator\muffler.

Do you know the ID\OD of this resonator? Is it a true 3in? The midpipe is 2.5 is it not? Why not use their 2.5 version?

The ZZperformance 3800 was 3" OD. I never measured the ID.

I never measured the stock mid pipe.

Im running 3 " from the cat back. So the 2.5" would have not worked with my setup.

Have any sound clips of your setup with DP, ZZP resonator, and Borla muffler? I am in the process of mixing and matching parts to find a deep tone at a manageable dB.

EDIT: lol holy shit, this place is about 10 minutes from my house, that works out well.
