Hi Guys,

Wondering if any of you noticed the transmission being slow to do its thing when you first start the car for the day. I've noticed the last 2 weeks whenever I first throw it into reverse to back out of parking spot it takes a good 2seconds to start moving backwards, and then about the same when i pull it back to drive.

It almost feels like a bad torque converter in the idea that i can give it throttle and nothing happens, or at least isnt as responsive as it normally is.

Wondering if any of you have anything similar to this, or an idea of what it could be so i could check it out.

Mine definitely shifts way different when cold. My fan is so loud on giving gas at first I can’t tell if it’s just noise or tranny cold blooded. I have been warming it up 10 minutes in cold weather no problems

No delay in engagement ( years ago that was indicative of being a little low on fluid when it happened on cold mornings ) here, but just recently started getting a jerking under very slight throttle when cold. Noticing it mainly in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear, like it doesn't know wether to shift or keep holding the gear so it starts cutting power to shift, but doesn't and then reapply's power on and off etc and it does this for 10-15 seconds before it shifts. Just noticed it at 10k, but has done it 2 times in last 2 weeks.....

Is your driveway level? Mine doesn't drift back on hills so I'm assuming there's some type of hill assist. I get weird shifts first thing in the morning but all my trucks have done that. My transmission engages and pulls immediately.

Mine been smooth, an even when it been pretty cold here...
19.7 last last tank. 20.7 life time. 23.2 best tank in summer. i drive it normal. not slow, not to fast, keep up with traffic never slower. sometimes faster.shifting is still smmmooth but braking is still touchy.

Mine has had the rough shifting TSB done already, and I noticed when the temp is 20F or below that the 1-3 shift is about 1-2 seconds long causing the engine to fall back to idle (without moving the skinny pedal) and then jerking back to whatever rpm it was at prior to the shift.

it does it exactly on the first shift only, my next stop is only half a mile away and it doesn't usually (or i can't remember it ever happening) do it again.

Do you go into gear right away, or let the vehicle warm up a bit?

I'll say mine doesn't matter. I warm it up maybe 50% of the time, and it still is quite jerky when I get on the road from my 150' long driveway.

That sounds very similar to my experience. Only happens when cold, and it is the FIRST shift only but it usually rather hard. After that, it is fine. And it ONLY happens when it is cold (< 35 or so).

Do you back into your driveway?
No, it's like 15' of backing up, then a straight shot to the road. I stop at the road (Even though it's BFE dirt road) and then continue on. About 25-50' from my driveway the truck shifts and I have to stop myself from eating the steering wheel.

I have the same issue myself as both of you, had the tsb applied, seems to have worn off after a long time or something, because I remember just after getting it applied the issue seemed to be better for like a month and has just gone back to the jerk after some time

my "TSB" didn't wear off, the truck rode 100% like a bucking bronco no matter the temperature before. Now it's literally one jerk only when it's cold out. Maybe the trans is low on fluid from the factory and it takes a min for it to refill the TC.
