Henry, my Ranger 10 speed does the same thing, it will just rev ou t if you let it.
Ford service tell me they can't find anything wrong. I believe it to be a faulty solenoid that looses pressure
It's basically the nature of the beast Glenn. I have 2 10 spds, one in the wife's '18 Mustang and mine in the '20 Ranger. If they have set even over night the will slip if you start, and go. I just let them both run from 5-10 seconds so the pressure can built back up in the torque converter, and we're off. Like you say for some reason the things must allow the fluid too drain back into the pan.
