How much difference between MSRP and invoice ?
Hi RR,

MSRP on my Ranger was $45K...invoice was $43.3K and my Z plan was just a tad over $41K. X plan was $43.5. It is all on the invoice in little boxes at the bottom X-plan, A/Z and so on...

Best,

If you ask me, Ford should have GIVEN you a new Ranger in any flavor you wish because of your prior involvement with the truck, especially the FX4 project...

I'm sure dealers are different, but is it a common practice for dealers to be more willing to deal at the end of every month? I know some of you guys got amazing deals at the end of the year. I'm in no hurry to buy... I can actually wait until Dec 2020 if I need to, but just curious how they usually operate. This is a want purchase for me not a need, so I'm trying to keep the new car bug at bay unless i get a great deal.

You sir, have amazing self-restraint with regards to a new vehicle purchase, my 2020's purchase was split evenly between want and need.
I imagine the 2020 Rangers will be very heavily discounted in anticipation of the rumored 6th gen 2021 Ranger.

We will see if I can keep that restraint. I'm trying. I traded my 2011 F250 4x4 (impulse buy with no need what so ever) for a 2012 Edge as my daily driver it's just so much easier to park and get around town in. I have an 06 F150 XL long bed for hauling stuff, but I miss having a truck for daily driving... and I miss the 4x4 for the 3 1 day long snow storms we get here. I looked at the Colorado and Tacoma when I bought the Edge, but I'm a Blue Oval guy.

Smart man, I've owned 6 pickups in my life, including my 2020 Lariat, all were Fords except for a 2015 Silverado in which the term "lemon" was invented for. It was the first and absolutely the last GM product I'll ever own.
I did test drive a '19 Taco 4x4 V6, I honestly thought it was powered by a 4, it's performance (or lack thereof), coupled with the go-kart seating still makes me wonder why it is the best selling vehicle in Hawaii, mind you I said vehicle, not truck.
I've already embarrassed a few Taco drivers here at stoplight derbies with my 2020 and am reasonably certain my beater '02 Honda CR-V can do the same.
A Dodge (Ram)? not on your life buddy...you could not give me a "Dodge for the Garage"...

Yea I looked at the Tacoma, but no head room at all... didn't even drive it. The Colorado was just blah, I just hate the interior on most chevy's and it just feels gutless.

I just got back from the dealer. Was interested in a 19 lariat fx4 with towing and 501a. Told me the x-plan pricing was the best they could do, roughly $42k. So I left. Ill wait until they get back the big rebates.

For that you could order a 20 to your specs with X plan and take current incentives for same or less! Good call.

That's all? No rebates/incentives whatsoever? What was the MSRP?

MSRP was 44k. I ended up finding a used lariat fx4 with 501a for 32k only has 8500 miles. Filing out paperwork now to buy and trade in my dreaded 3rd gen taco.

You bought yours used as well?
I guess new cars don't depreciate in WA, huh?
You're right on the money.

My purchase details are on page 27 if you're curious. With a median income as high as it is here - dealers are used to people overpaying for things. The dealership I had a terrible experience at (Sound Ford) still has all of their 2019s sitting on the lot, growing moss. Eventually they'll sell them for a reasonable price. Apparently Sound Ford has a very poor reputation as it turns out. Other dealers like Lakewood, Sunset, Titus-Will Tacoma etc - none of them were going even consider selling a Lariat in the mid 30's so if I compare my deal to median price of these new I'm even happier.

Long and short: despite the pre-owned status, I got a higher trim Lariat for even less money and I never had to set foot in a dealership. Pruitt Ford, btw, were terrific to work with even thought I was out of state - even took care of a TSB while things were being processed.
