After a long day of hiking and fishing the Kern river, creeks and Lake isabella i headed over to the 395 side to sleep close to the trailhead I planned to hike the next morning. This spot was great but the mosquitos were relentless so I moved a bit further from the river.

Still a couple vampires here but it was pretty perfect and manageable with a bit of bug spray. I pulled up just in time to soak my feet while having dinner after a long day of hiking. Listening to the frogs and the water all night was magic.

Night 2 was supposed to be at an alpine lake accessible by a pretty rough 5 mile 4x4 trail, about 1/3 the way up a few jeeps let me know the trail was still snowed in at the top and impassable.

I turned around and was happy to save the effort and daylight and headed for a spot perched above some natural hot springs. Took a dip in the hot springs and the soak was amazing after a 8.5 mile 1500 ft gain hike. It was a cold one, my dogs water bowl froze overnight so im pretty happy we didn't end up sleeping at 10k elevation. In the morning i got in the truck cranked the heat and once I got enough dexterity in my fingers to break camp I packed it up and headed on my way.

Our annual Easter Mojave camp out was another one for the books. A group of model T’s running sections of the Mojave road camped near us, it was really cool to hear some stories and we even hitched a ride around the campground in a 112 year old Ford!

I bought mine from Corwin Ford too but it was in Spokane, WA. I wonder if they own the dealership there too? They were a great dealership to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to fly back there and do business with them again.

I don't know. I bought my '73 Capri at Bill Corwin Ford in Orange back in the 70's. He died many moons ago.
