I thought Ford was cracking down on dealers pulling this BS?!?! I’ve read some studies that this not only damages dealers ability to retain these sales as a repeat customers, but also damages the brands too. No way would I pay a penny over MSRP and same goes for dealer add-ons. Was looking for used car for my 16 year old son and one dealer was actually adding dealer add-ons to used vehicles as well since demand is so out of wack. Crazy times!!!
nope just lip service and fluff for the media to put out. Ford and its dealers are gonna get every last cent they can out of customers. they know that the cash cow is running out of grass. so they are banking while they can.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
a 39k car that I would swap for the Ranger.
WTF? :surprised:

I am so happy to be back in a truck after not having one for 9+ years that I don't see me ever being truckless again.

Sorry, not trying to highjack the thread.

And now back to our regular programing.

Ford's specialty lines i.e. SVT, Raptor, Shelby, RS almost always come with a hefty markup. Nothing new. That's why it's funny people thinking they are going to secure a Ranger Raptor for anywhere close to the reported $50k MSRP.

I got my RS at sticker, I'm fairly sure that if I were to try to get a Ranger Raptor it would be too. But not 100%, if management changed or greed of 2020+ trickled in they may have also broken down and started charging markups. But I'm really happy with the Ranger I have now, I'm not seeing the Raptor as being more than I already have for my use.

Just like you can't molest the willing, it's impossible for a dealership to GOUGE the willing. Especially on a NICHE vehicle that nobody genuinely NEEDS to purchase.

The person who's gonna buy this truck doesn't give two shits how much ADM they're going to pay...

Why is everyone wasting their time and energy getting pissed off FOR someone else? Someone else who doesn't care....

I thought that as well. This particular dealership was owned by Penske and had surprisingly good service and a reputation for fair pricing. However, they sold it three or four months ago and it became Sedano Ford. This Raptor was the first thing I saw when walking into the service/parts dept. I don't know if Penske was playing the ADM game or not, but this dealership sure is.

I've wanted to try this....my own "market adjustment" when trading in at one of these stealerships.
When they offer you $XXX.XX dollars, you say due to market demand, That will be $XXX.XX + market adjustment of $XXX.XX Match it to whatever it is they are bumping up the price on the new one.

I have a good friend who is a GSM (General Sales Manager) at a big dealer here. He won't even let us buy at MSRP. He knows he can sell them for super markup. I wouldn't really be buying one, but there is no such thing as reasonable purchase anymore.

I hate to say it, but I hope the market crashes and the dealers get f---ed because of their tactics during this. I don't believe in government oversight, as a fundamental belief, but I don't know how they aren't getting in trouble for price gouging. Even Amazon got in trouble for marking up items during COVID.

heck, in happy Canada recently, they dragged in Mr Bread himself (Galen Weston of Loblaws) and questioned him on the grocery store price gouging.
Of course our politicians looked like dorks after his responses, but still....

this is pushing my luck in terms of politics not being welcome but - the automakers / dealers get away with screwing everyone over and over again simply due to the fact the government is not about to go against it's own self. I will leave that without further explanation.

I totally agree! I have been thinking about doing something similar to this with the doc fee. I just ignore ADM's, but that doc fee tends to be a little harder to get around. Around Phoenix these days, most doc fee's are @ $600.

One more straw for the camel's back....

One of my close friends, drives an F150 Platinum purchased in El Paso, TX, where he (now) lives. The truck was due for an oil change, so visiting his (old) local dealer in Albuquerque, was in order. The short version of the story is simply this. They would not honor the purchased Ford-offered, regular maintenance oil change, because he didn't buy the truck from them! I suspect that violates the dealer's contract with Ford. I guess the dealer identifies as a crook!
